Question 4th Gen Grill Inserts....sample pic...

I finally had a little time to myself and decided to try something, but not sure if I am liking it too much. I have all the templates made for the upper and lower inserts but just cut the material and installed the lower section because it was the easiest to cut. Be honest whether you like it or not. The only thing I have thought about doing different was to paint the mesh black.

No offense. That is what I am thinking.....oh well, you never know until you try. Here is what it would have looked like finished out.

I kinda like it except the cut-out for the V8. I don't know how you would get around it otherwise but it looks weird it that area.

I'd like to see it painted black.

Looks good. I also would like to see it in black. Maybe someone with Photoshop experience can change it. I also found that the V8 emblem just snaps off the grill. I did this on mine as I have shaved all other lettering. Nothing but the Toyota logos on the grill and fifth door showing. Keeps people guessing and looks much cleaner.

Yep, the V8 emblem stands out, but I don't want to get rid of that emblem. I'll just have to mess around with it and see if I can make it work. If I can ever get somebody to make my brackets for my lights, the lower part might have to go anyway.

Here it is in black. It is even noticable in the upper part, but on the lower part, you lose the contrast so it look like you are missing your front teeth:gaptooth: . I'm not really liking it too much.

Had I read your signature, I would have figured you were Photoshop capable. You're right, teeth missing. I was thinking about the V8 emblem, I think the iForce-V8 emblem from the Tundra or Tacoma is a stick on. It would look good and not have to be cut around.

How did you make the grill inserts?
Did you buy or make them?

It is just that gutter guard material at Home Depot. I first made templates for the openings out of poster board. Then I traced it onto the mesh material and trimmed it out. I put those door guard strips along the top and bottom so the edges would scratch the bumper while I was messing around. Then I just used the smallest black zip ties I could get and attached it to the bumper. It was pretty easy doing the lower section, but I think the upper would be a piain, since there are curves, not to mention the V8 emblem.

ive got that chrome mesh on mine, which i bought at a vehicle accessory store....however, it stood out too much on the front, so i put it in behind the grill both upper and lower, and fastened with thin black zip ties....it looks great, as it doesnt stand out too much, but it fills in the gaps nicely and still protects the rad. if you wanna see pics let me know ill snap a few and postem.

That's a good idea. I'd like to see some pics of that.
