Yakima Load & Mega Warrior Owners Advice

Am in the market for a new one but can't decide between the 2. The yakima site says that the extension won't work on a 4th generation 4 runner but have seen folks on here with the extension.

I've just found that I'd actually like to see out of my rear window on long trips with the family and start storing stuff on the roof as opposed to jamming the back of th e4 runner.

Help me decide, preferably with pics.

I have the regular loadwarrior w/o the extension. Many think the mega lw is a better fit for the 4th gen.

I've got the load warrior with extension on my 3rd gen. I think the mega warrior would have been too big for the 3rd gen, but maybe it'll look ok on the 4th gen. Hopefully someone will post some pics.

Here's mine with the extension, jack mount, and spare tire carrier:

Well, I just went through the same dilemma. I ended up getting the loadwarrior. No installed pics yet as the ups man should be leaving it on my porch as I type this. Anyway, what finally did it for me was I happened to get right behind another 4th gen on the interstate with a mega warrior installed and it just looked too wide IMHO. From my rough measurements it seems the load warrior's outside edges line up just inside of the factory rails where as the mega warrior ends up hanging over the sides of the rails just a touch. I'll try and get some pics up once its on. Good luck with the decision.

Thanks. Anyone with a megawarrior with pics that can justify why I should get that?

Well I think I am going with the LoadWarrior. Now I just need to settle on a place to purchase. When i went google shopping the cheapest I found was $200 with free shipping which I think is a great deal. Wonder if REI will price match?

Personal Opinion

I have a Coleman (Sportrack) on my 2004. This rack is the same size as a Loadwarrior and while I got it for a great price (<$60), I personally think a Meagwarrior looks better on the 4th generation 4Runners (while the Loadwarrior loos sbetter on the third generations). It's all a matter of what you want and think looks best.

Yeah I did some searching and apparently the Coleman is no longer sold (most members stated it was bought at Costco). I didn't think getting the megawarrior could be justified considering it's only about 9 inches wider and 5 inches longer for almost $80 more. That's why i keep telling folks to post some pics so I can judge for myself whether it looks too big or not compared to the loadwarrior.

Thanks. I checked out that thread as well, but am concerned with the depth of the rack. I'll research it anyway.
