Project 88 restore some pics are up to see

Hi all newbe here….I have two 4Runners a 1994 SR5 4X4 that is like new and a 1988 DLX that I am currently restoring.
The 94 is my daily driver right now but, my plans are to replace it with the 88 when it is finished.

The 88 is a 4 cylinder 5 speed with 130K miles it is medium blue with gray vinyl interior including the floors.
She has power steering, brakes, A/C, tilt wheel, tinted glass, and power rear window. There is also a low budget in dash CD/stereo rounding off the amenities.

I bought the truck because I love first gen 4Runners and the 1984 to 88 pickup Hilux. I was on the hunt for a 1986 or 1987 EX Cab but, was not able to find one that was not so far gone or modified.
I am glad now that I bought another 4Runner because, it will be more versatile with 4 passenger seating.

Once I figure how to post pics here I will show off the project 88 restore. I can not believe I am going this crazy building this truck but, once I started, I got more into it and it’s been fun

I'm surprised that is so rusty for being from florida. I guess the salt ocean is really harsh on them. I'm excited to see what the back is going to turn into.

And the cat in the one pic was pretty funny. Curious thing eh?

The truck spent time up north and was used down here by a wind surfing nut.

The cat is just a goof ball ham

Here are some updated pics.....

The frame is in good shape and after a wire brush and pressure wash we painted it up with good old Rustolum satin black paint.

Nice paint job.
I plan on sand blasting my frame a bit and painting it with POR15. Porbably do that in the next couple of weeks.

Are the rear halfs what you found at the scrap yards? Or is that your own collection?

I would have used a stronger rust proofing paint like POR but, I have no plans to go off road with the truck. If things change then I will put her back up on a lift and redo it.

The blue back half is what we cut off my blue truck. The grey truck is a 4Runner I found near by me that I used as a parts truck. The grey cut off is the rear from the grey parts truck. The grey parts truck was in better shape than the blue truck but, the grey truck had a CD title.

Oh that makes sense. I was wondering "why wouldn't he restore the grey truck". but it has all come together now.lol.

Keep us updated with pics.

I always thought it would be cool to slam one of the 2door 4runners. i thibnk it would look like a mini truck but with seats and a rool bar in the back. but with a roof. would be easier to put the roof on.

I've never had to remove a roof. Are they heavy?
Definitly a 2 person job?
