Lift/Suspension Suggestions Please?

Hi everyone...

Can anyone here offer some suggestions for my particular needs:

1. Want to have a less side to side "soft" asphalt experience while driving.

2. Want less front end roll under braking.

3. Eventually want to switch over from stock rubber to BFG KO2s in either stock 4Runner size or bump up one size without having to cut or trim the wheel wells.

4. Eventually want to purchase an aluminum CBI front bumper.

So basically my objectives are:

Less of a wishy-washy/soft handling 4Runner, some added lift for tire clearance, not a crazy firm ride but also not a rubberband kinda ride either (like currently) -- just enough I like it... and finally, I won't feel (or see) the affects of the front bumper weight (not that it is that much more than stock -- with the aluminum option).

My particulars:

1. 90% asphalt/20% dirt and fireroads -- no intention for any rock crawling whatsoever.
2. Budget--whatever it takes to meet my objectives but of course I don't want to be ridiculous... especially knowing I am going to upgrade rubber and bumper soon.
3. 2019 4Runner TRD ORP... nothing added but moonroof (no KDSS or anything else).

I have looked and searched the forums pretty heavily but truthfully I am getting myself more and more confused with choices and options so I figured I would start a thread.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Pretty much in the same situation as you. I read a lot about Bilstein 5100 shocks and seems to be a good option.

Hoping to see some answers soon!!

YMMV... as they say

You just about described my driving useage to a "T".
Daily driver - on road 90% of the time. Only off road it sees is unimproved stone road to our cabin.
I put Bilstein 5100's at all 4 corners with OME 884 front springs, front shock clips at the lowest ring and I used the Daystar 1.5" spacers with the stock rear springs. You will need an alignment after the install.
I kept the stock 265/70R17 tire size as my aim was to reduce the nose down look and to increase the under body clearance enough so I didn't need jack stands just to change the oil.
I had no plans for any extreme off-roading either.
The front sat a bit high until the 884 springs took their set which was about 75-100 miles. The shocks made a huge difference. Coming from a Ford F150 4x4, the 4Runner definitely rides better (more like the F150) with the lift. I will warn that strong crosswinds at highway speeds can be a hand full due to the lost alignment caster with the stock front upper control arms (UCA's) and the lift. Tire wear is normal with no ill effects from the lift. Corrective UCA's were $500+ for the set, I did not spend that money - no regrets.
62000 miles later it now sits with about 1" of rake measuring at the fenders and not at the frame. Slight nose dive when braking has returned likely due to the "tired" front shocks. I will be replacing all 4 this summer with the exact same. To me it's "mission accomplished".

Any suspension creeping or popping when turning and hitting bumps?

Just bought a used 2017 SR5 on Friday 2/8/19 in Carlsbad, CA.

I'm in exactly the same situation. Got appointment in a couple of weeks and my setup will be:

6112 fronts
5100 rear
ome rear, medium
diff drop
camburg uca
BFG KO2 285/70/17 C rating

Probably doing exactly what you said you will be doing. Lots of trails to get to camping sites, green trails in LA mountains, that sort of thing.

Shop told me to get a C rating if I'm doing 90% road driving and I'm not installing heavy bumpers, or a roof tent or a winch, or pulling a trailer so an E rating will be rough they said for daily driving.
