Thumbs up 5th Gen Navigation Wiring Info

Hey guys. I no longer have an OEM 5th Gen nav system in my truck, but when I had the E7008 installed, I compiled some info so I could keep all the pin wiring info straight. Anyway, here it is. I figured I'd share the info with you guys & hopefully it will help somebody.

For me, making this picture was like putting a name to a face. It made it easier to see what each plug's function was.

EDIT: I also added some more info so it's easier to use

Great work! Just one thing, on R12 pin 7 is mute and pin 8 is R+.

Nice catch Larry! Yep, you are right. I rechecked the diagram and I have them incorrectly marked. I'll have to fix it when I get back home after the holidays. Thanks.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Sorry to dig up an old thread. I understand that the E7008 and E7009 are practically the same. Your orginal pic post of the wiring diagram no longer works, can you repost it please??

Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum!

If I remember correctly, the plug above labeled R27 is the plug used for the stereo jack and video input for the rear screen if there is one. VAR+, VAL+, and VA-, and ADPG being the input from the stereo jack. That leaves of course, the VV+, and VV- for the vid input.

Also, the designation "R27" is actually different between models as well. So if you look at the wiring for the Sienna, for example, the plugs are the same, with the same inputs/outputs, but labeled differently (as in R27 might be labeled R15 or R16). Toyota did this just to confuse everybody.

Thanks, and that was a speedy reply!
So these are A/V outputs from the nav, for input into a second screen?
VAR/L is right & left audio with VA- as a ground? I don't quite understand what ADPG is for though.
This is intriguing, I could possibly use this to run a sub through an amplifier.

Unfortunately, it's the video output FROM the rear entertainment system, and INPUT into the nav unit.

The ADPG wire is basically there to tell the nav unit (or other Toyota radio) that there is (or isn't) something plugged in & therefore allows the AUX input to be selected. Again, this is an INPUT to the headunit, not an output.
