Have anymore shots with those tires on it? Been debating between the rugged terrains, at ko's and revo 2's. Rugged terrains being the newest and least tested/reviewed but a tire I like..

Not offhand, no. IMHO, the tread pattern looks really good. They're quiet on the road and quite comfortable. I've not had any issues with traction so far, but I don't do anything crazy offroad (or I'd have gone with an LT).

It looks just aggressive enough to stand out but not overly aggressive enough to be overkill on the truck.

I've run Revo2's before as well -- also a good tire all things considered, but I always felt like they looked more like a street tire.

So I recently installed a 2013 FJ TT shocks/springs combo and Toytec front 1/2" spacer kit on my 2003 4Runner V8 Sport Edition. I also installed the Energy Suspension polyurethane swaybar bushings. After the install I have noticed that the suspension is a great deal more responsive and I really enjoy it.

There is only one complaint I have. There is a rattling sound coming from the front left wheel. The sound is heard at low speeds when going over speed bumps, driveways/curbs, potholes, etc. It sounds like the shock may be rattling inside the top plate perhaps? I double checked that all nuts/bolts were tight and still could not locate the problem. Any suggestions?

I have this setup too, but without the spacer. Can you post a pic of how even the 1/2" spacer makes the truck? I'm comparing to the pics of the 1/4". I want the truck to sit perfectly level if I'm going to tear mine apart and install a spacer.

I was also wondering about the metal spacer being on top of the coilover, instead of the rubber top plate that the coilover has to fit the top mount support. Really wondered if the metal spacer would cause more stress, noise, rattling or any concerns. I think I will spray the spacer with some rubber compund or add a rubber mount on top to prevent vibrations, etc...Not sure if this could be your issue.

I am thinking that the rattle your hearing is the brake pads. Try hitting the brakes when you go over the same bumps. if it goes away you have located the rattle.

Modification required?

Looks very nice! I have the same color. Did you have to modify the springs/shocks/anything to get the later model one's to fit? I have seen all kinds of conflicting info. on this.

FJ coils w/ FJ shocks on 07 V6

I've read through most of this thread and can't quite find what I'm looking for.
I found some 07 FJ coils/shocks with <1K miles and I want to know what to expect in the way of lift. I'd like it to be close to level with a slight front rake. I'm also interested in what the ride will be like. Stock set up non-XREAS is kind of mushy and rolls in corners. Is the FJ set up going to be crazy stiff?
Will I need a small top load spacer in order to get the almost level effect I'm looking for? No heavy bumpers or winches.

Thanks

I like the way your truck sits. How does it ride and how hard are the air bags to install?

2005 Limited V8 4x4 XREAS numbers

So, I got my lift in today and I thought I would share my numbers for those who might have my setup and are wondering what this lift will do. Dealer installed it, it was expensive, but it came out almost exactly even! Money well spent and I couldn't be happier with this look. The lift: FJ springs from an 07 (Zero miles on them, not even a scratch), Bilstein 5100’s front and rear, set to 2.5 max setting front, Daystar 1.5 back, stock 265/65/17’s, first number is before, second is after, keep in mind I have only driven it 3-4 miles since install:

• Front Driver: 33…36.25
• FD Hub up: 19…22.25
• FD Running Brd: 12.75…16
• RD Running Brd: 13.5…15 7/8
• Rear Driver: 34 7/8…37 3/8
• RD Hub up: 21…23
• Front Pass.: 33 1/8…36.25
• FP Hub up: 19…22.5
• FP Running Brd: 12.75…16
• RP Running Brd: 13.5…16
• Rear Pass: 35.25…37 3/8
• RP Hub up: 21…23.25

My Runner is a Limited 4x4 V8, had XREAS and so far, I won’t miss it. There is A LOT less nose dive, and it is better at tight turning, and it takes bumps better, it is almost too smooth but I love it so far. My fiancé is most certainly gonna like the new ride quality better, less bump feel.

Hey I forgot to measure before the lift. But here's what I got

Front passenger 39.5
Front driver 39.25
Rear passenger 38.5
Rear driver 38.5

2006 sport edition v6 2wd

2010+ FJ Trail Teams bilstein shocks and springs

Daystar 2.5/1.5

Well, I finally installed the lift. I installed new Bilstein 5100s and FJ 2010 springs in the four corners. The fronts were placed at 1.75" lift. Measurements are after alignment and 50 miles. The rear settled about 1/8" in that time, the front did not budge.
I have to say that this setup is living to its expectations. The ride is improved, a tiny stiffer, but not as much as the OMEs I had in my 3rd gen. The ride is just perfect. This week I am going for a 600 mile drive towing the boat so let's see how that goes.

Measurements before:
FL: 32 15/16" ; FR: 33 1/4"
RL: 35 1/2" ; RR: 35 3/8"
After:
FL: 35 5/16" ; FR: 35 1/2"
RL: 35 7/8" ; RR: 35 7/8"

So about 2 1/4" lift in front and 1/2" in rear. I still want a little bit more in the rear so I may install Cornfed's 1" spacers.
My ride is a 2008 4Runner 4wd V8 with 50k miles and stock 265/65R17 tires.

Bottom line: just do it! I did it alone and it took me the whole day, but was well worth it; including the front spring compression/installation. I will post some details and tips in another post.

EDIT: ok, so here is a report after 1,000 miles. 750 of those were towing a 4,500 lbs boat:
FL: 35 1/16" ; FR: 35 5/16"
RL: 35 5/8" ; RR: 35 1/2"

So a drop of about 1/4" all around..... I hope it stops sagging. I also measure at the running boards and I have about 1/8" rake front-to-rear, so rear spacers are coming on top of Firestone air springs for towing.

noise from front left

@200 hp

I have a rattle coming from the front left as well. I already replaced the sway bar link, which did not solve the problem. I recently realized that it doesnt happen if I have the brakes applied. I got to looking around at stuff and found that my brake pad slide pins are kind of loose and Im pretty sure this is the source of my rattle noise. I havent fixed it yet, but when I do, Ill let you know what I figured out. Hope this helps

Thanks! No modification for the springs to fit.

I lifted my 2004 4wd 4 runner this past weekend. 122,00 miles on the truck. stock measurements from the ground to center of wheel well front was 33 and the rear was 35. I bought 2012 FJ Cruiser rear coils and front strut assembly with toyota struts with 12,000 miles. I installed a 1 1/2 inch spacer in rear and 2 inch spacer in front. (top mounted) finished results are 36 inches front and 37 1/2 rear. Also the lower mount on my truck was 39 mm and the lower strut assembly was 41 mm. I read about grinding and all that but we took the lower control arm off and decided there is not enough material to grind on the mount. So, I took a piece of 1/8 steel placed inside of the mount put a long bolt through the other side placed a bunch of washers on the bolt inside the mount then placed a nut on the end of the bolt snugged it up against the steel then took an impact wrench and tightened up the bolt even more which of course spread out the mount. this worked perfectly!! The other side we left the lower control arm on and just did the same thing while still on the truck. We loosened up the alignment bolts on the lower control arms so they would fall out of the way. Marked them and it worked great.

Wondering if this setup from a 2013 FJ will work on my 04 4Runner.

I am looking into pulling the xreas out and putting the bilsteins all around and fj springs up front. I am hoping that I can keep the rear air suspension because it would seem like a lot more work to remove them. Any input? Is it possible to keep the rear air while removing the xreas? Or at 162+k miles should I replace everything? How long should the air suspension last?
