From what I understand, there is a drl relay and a non-drl relay.
You just change them to what you want.
Or, the dealer can enable or disable via the ecu, I think.

Why turn them off? They serve a good purpose in making your car more visible.

It would be nice to be able to turn them on or off when needed or wanted. My 4runner is white, so its sticks out pretty well anyways.

I don't mean to be offensive, but how about BECAUSE I CAN!

It's MY TRUCK and I should be able to choose which lights are on or off at any given time.

It bothers me that the DRL's are not a selective feature. I don't like going into a drive-in movie theater or approaching the gate of a Military base (just a couple of examples) and not being able to turn off my lights. I much prefer having them turned off completely to not being able to control them.

When driving long stretches of country roads, I see the benefit of DRL's, but I can accomplish the same effect by simply turning on the running lights.

-Tim

+1 I hated DRL lights when came stock with my ss camaro (back in the day). I made sure I didn't have them on my truck as they are an option on the SE 4runner. Every time I had them I always forgot to turn my light on at night because in my mind I already had because I would see the headlights on! Plus, it would just drive me crazy knowing that they are on. Why waste it if you dont need it.

Yes. It's not the actual headlights that are the DRLs on the 4Runner. I think on the 3rd Gen it was the headlights (on a low intensity) but we've got the turn signals as our DRLs. ;)
