There used to be a thread from every month. I like Nov's 4ROTM lift.

I definitely agree. I wish GatorGreg would be more active or pass on some responsibility. We should vote for it too.

Because, at times, the admins (you alll know the one(s)) can treat this site in a borderline Communist fashion. I think some may actually have ties to Cuba, N. Korea, China, Vietnam... Laos. I think that's all of them. But I've already said too much and put myself at significant risk. God speed and remember me when I'm gone. Please great admins, forgive my seditiousness.

P.S. He's not the only admin, and the moderators are on all the time too. |

Only one moderator has been known to ban people for suspicious reasons.

![]() And that's not even the worse part. The worse part is, god forbid, you have a different opinion than "the one". I've seen too many discussions become overwhelmed by person attacks (calling someone an idiot, stupid or ignorant) and petty back and forth because someone doesn't completely agree with him. It's childish. And then he starts typing in all caps to imply shouting, which is ridiculously childish. It actually takes away from the site as a whole.

Guys, we know there's an issue. It's tough on the mods too...
What's important to understand is the admin has significantly more power and options when it comes to registration, T4ROM and other things. There are many things we can see on our control panel page but the buttons aren't active. The challenge of designating an Admin is complicated. Releasing that kind of control to someone is dangerous. As an admin you could wipe the site out, take it offline etc. As for a current Moderator being a designated Admin that's a big leap. Greg and Thai (no longer an admin or moderator) have not met many of us face-to-face, ever. None of us hangout or know each other beyond the confines of the forum. The next point is the site belongs to Greg. Finally, for all they know we moderators are borderline computer illiterate and two-days worth of prescription meds away from being lunatics. Greg is busy. Should he designate someone? Maybe. Would I designate somebody? I don't know. Quite a bit is at stake and I would be very fearful of designating people I didn't know. If I were faced with the decision I might view it as one of the very rare times in life when it's better to just do nothing until the right opportunity arises. I am not saying that's what Greg is thinking, I am just saying if I were in his shoes... Before someone starts with "he makes so much money for the ads we should be getting better service" statement. No. The hosted Google ads provide very little. You'll notice there are no other ads. We have another forum section that only mods and admins can see. Money was discussed. Bottom line this forum is about break even. Some years it costs him a couple hundred bucks other years it may put $200 in his pocket, max!. The forum was a labor of love for he and Thai. It's grown and progressed to the point of being one of the very best online forums for all 4Runners. I would venture to say it's the best (in terms of volume & content) especially for 3rd, 4th & 5th generations 4Runners. You'd be hard pressed to find better. There's a special emphasis placed on having a family friendly forum (hence a seemingly low threshold before punitive action on the part of moderators and emphasis on 'politeness'). It's a great resource for the folks with stock through modestly modified 'Runners. It's good site for the 12yr old, 4Runner crazy kid to play too. I know the situation is frustrating. It will be resolved. Thank-you for everyone's patience and continued participation. I am locking this thread down because "it is what it is" and this doesn't need to turn into a b***h session about the forum. The Mods and and Admin can add comments so you may see a reply after my unofficial answer... Maybe they'll unlock it Who knows. I do know this doesn't need to turn into a b***h session about the forum.Let's focus on 4Runners and again, thanks to all the members for their participation on the forum. It wouldn't be one of the best without all of you.![]() PS- I'll unstick this in a couple of days after I'm sure everyone has had a chance to 'get the message'.
