Cornfed installed on 2006 SE

Happy holidays everyone.

I ordered the Cornfed 3" lift kit from Jason at Burtman Industries the week before Christmas. It arrived less than a week later. I had a couple of quick questions. Both Jason and David at Cornfed were very quick to respond. Great service! Thanks guys!

I did the install the day after Christmas. It took me and a couple friends 4 hours from the first turn of the wrench to complete. Actually it took 6+ hours total, but 2+ were spent nursing a hangover, reading instructions and strategizing. I and one other could get it done in less than 3 hours now that I know what I am doing.

I removed the brake calipers to allow the lower control arm to drop down and aid in removing the coilover. This made life very easy. It was not mentioned in the instructions so I have just sent a quick query to David to see if there is another way. Other than that I just followed the enclosed instructions. Pretty easy. I was so happy with the result when we finished I treated everyone to food and drinks

I found a frame and axle shop to do the alignment yesterday. Firestone refused to do it because of the lift.

I still have the stock Dunlops on the Runner since it only has 1600 miles on it. I am tempted to get some Revos but will probably wait until the Dunlops wear out and I will replace the rims and tires and try to widen the stance a bit.

Anyway, I really like the look. The stock height was just too low. Now it looks more normal to me, even with the stock rubber. I can't wait to get off road this spring and see how the Runner performs. I have done Redcone Pass in my CJ, Comanche, and on motorcycles, so I have to take the Runner over it this summer and break it in. It is not that technical but does get the palms a bit sweaty on the downhill.

Pictures of the lift to follow.

Looks nice!

I found the hardest part was getting the strut out and flat. Had to move the suspension down then up (I think) to get the top out and past the upper a-arm.

I got a lifetime alignment from Firestone after the lift with no problems. Wierd.

Sharp4runr,

Give me a fax number and I will shoot it out to you.

I have the instructions for the front with me. I think I left the rear instructions at my bros. house. I can get them if necessary. Not much involved with the rear. It took us 30-40 minutes in the dark.

Nice looking truck with a lift. The next thing you have to do is get some big tires; those Dunlops are too small

Nice job! I really want to get the cornfed lift but I'm not mechanically inclined. I'll have to find a place in Chicago to do it for me. I'd be to scared to mess it up if i do it myself.

Most Toyota dealers can do this for you, or any shop that has a spring compressor.

That what customers report. Or any 4wd shop, or place that install shocks can do it. Any place with a spring compressor. You can also rent them as well.
