6" Lift 2005 4runner

Hi everyone,
I am a new poster around , but long time lurker.
lifted my 05 sport with xreas when it had 10 miles on it with my custom 4" lift and installed tires.
have been waiting for someone to come out with a 6" lift that does not cut the front crossmember and Rough County did it .
I am ordering my kit and going for the install myself at home.
20x10 or 9" width. with a 35" tire.

I have got so much info and help over the years from people on this site I wanted to share my project . I can't find any info on if it had been done before or not. I called RCX and was told : "WE havent tried it and had no idea it was the same as 4runner".
so I am basicly on my own.
But I am going for it anyways

35's with a V6, seems to me like you are going to need to do some serious re-gearing. But it will be awesome when you are done. Good luck!

That's what so great about Toyota, Doing more with less,
People have been lifting and off roading toyota (4runner's) since they came out and have allways had the smallest motors.
35" tires were small in the 80's/90's. And a 40" tire with the
22r 4 cyc motor (110hp) was the norm and toyota still kicked A**

The 4.0 V-6 has more power and torque than any previous model and has more power than Any older (stock) V-8 .
my 1979 bronco has 142 h.p, a 1986 1 ton 454 chevy had like 190h.p.

I am very,very happy with the V-6 and Part-time 4wd.
However I do plan on changing the gear's (4.56) with ARB's

I have seen a (1) Fabtech 6" on a 4runner,
called Pro-comp,Superlift,Fabtech,RSX. All said same : "no idea"

you think most company's would want to sell as many lifts as possible. And this is almost a straight bolt on from the FJ.
It would cost nothing to R@D , put it in the catalog.
But i guess they have so much money they don't need more.

I know this is not true for a fact about one of the companies mentioned.

I'm with you though, nearly the exact same front end and the could just prototype one (i'll do it ) and throw a pic and part number in the catalog.

are these the ones? I hope you didnt drop almost a grand. You can get icons for that much. there are vendors selling the same specialty products arms for half that.

My 4runner is a daily street driver and weekend off-roader so no high maintaince desert racing stuff for me.

From my research there are no arms like the Light Racing !

Icon Billett- Heim/uniball (no rubber bushings) this design transmits lots of road noise thru truck ,Does have caster/camber adj .
I called Icon they did NOT recommend for street use !! .$1000.00
Noisy and part's wear out but re-buildable .

T/C & All Pro (basicly same) - ura/bush greesable zerks/ 1"uniball but No caster/camber adj. $600.00. parts wear's out but fixable.

Light Racing - H.D replacement that has adj camber/caster rubber mounted, stonger than stock, no maintaince. $600.00
Factory style ball joint.

If you know of something better, Or Same thing for half price, Please share quickly !!

A note about Heim's and uni-ball's : Both very strong and rugged
They are lined with teflon that wears and are noisy. do not like Dirt/water .
My research found that Upper arms with above design will wear out in 1 to 5 year's max / with a average of 2 years ,
(1 year of L.A driving) before a re-build is needed.

I'm not sure I'd drop $600 on the Light Racing UCA's. But that's just me based on what I read about their product on their website. Since I have no direct experience with their product take my opinion for a grain of salt.

All Pro uca's are known to squeak. Total Chaos' on the other hand does not. I've only had the TC arms and they've been very quiet and had zero problems in a dirt/water environment.

If I had to drop $600 bucks I'd go with the TC arms.

On a similar note, I believe Camburg is the cheapest arms available.

Good luck

Initially, I went to Light Racing page to see what you were referring to. It linked to speciality products which listed the arms at 900 bucks. Toytec sells the same ones for 449
