Would you put a Confederate Flag decal on your car?
I've been tossing around the idea of putting a decal or two on my 4Runner.
Would you put a Confederate flag decal on your vehicle?
I might put an American flag decal on there too.
Let me know what y'all think.

No. I would not. Here's why. I have tons of heritage from Louisiana, Arkansas, and south Carolina dating back to 1706 including members of the Continental Congress, Revolutionary War veterans and plantation owners with streets named after family members. That being said, to me, the Stars and Bars represent division and standing against our great country and forgetting that we are fifty states, not the north and south. With our boys serving in the military (mine in the Marine Corps), there's only one flag for me!

The Confederate Flag means different thing to people.
What does it mean to you?
Here is the sticker I would put on my rig because of what it means to me.
For the love of Oregon.

One nation, one flag. Never forget history, but that's what it is. Just put the current stars and stripes and people will know thats a patriotic symbol with no controversy.

Don't tempt me.
The Stars and Bars is different than the Confederate Navy Jack (what most people think of as the Confederate flag).
It's mostly a Southern pride thing for me.

I lived in SC, near Charleston for a year when I was in the Navy in 2000.
In SC you will be viewed as just another truck unless a lot has changed zince 2000.
However if you lived in California or NY, I suspect people will assume you are a white supremisist. It is just a zip code thing. What is normal in SC and GA is totally unacceptable in CA, NY and many other states.
In fact I dont think most non-southerners can understand / believe it is not a race thing unless they live in said states long enough to realize that for ths locals it isnt a racial thing.

In MO, I think it would be seen as a racist sentiment and thus, I would not. I'm also not from the South, so I have no reason to have one.

Yes, every once in a while i will see someone driving around a big truck with a confederate flag flying from the bed. Most people will look and frown upon them up here in Mass. I honestly could care less. Hell, im thinking about putting my sig in small letters on my rear window of my 4r.

I think that anyone should really believe in what the flag represents to them before they fly it, no matter what flag it is. If you fly it, own it. If you fly it, be prepared to defend it. If you don't defend it, you don't truly believe in it. Only fly what you are personally willing to defend. There's enough apathy in this country so don't half ass any flag.
Having lived in Greenville for 4 years I love the SC flag. I would personally fly that and the Stars and Stripes.

My boss would argue, how can you fly the American flag on a Toyota? How do you all respond to that? This guy is hardcore conservative stuck in the 70's type. I just laugh at him but really i want to tell him to get bent.

I believe in America. I believe in my Toyota. The two are not mutually exclusive. One could argue that Toyota believes in America thru their manufacturing and sales.

That one's all too easy, Shawn. What made the domestic vehicles AMERICAN? They were built here, therefore they fed Americans. For your defense, just look up the Toyota manufacturing locations, and you will see that the majority of their vehicles that are sold here are also BUILT here. Look up the number of AMERICANS that are being fed by Toyota manufacturing and parts suppliers--it is MASSIVE. Then look up the domestic nameplates manufacturing plants--the vast majority are OUTSIDE the borders of this country. The "American" names that people defend tooth-and-nail are mostly foreign companies now, feeding Canadians, Mexicans, Europeans, Vietnamese, etc.. While Toyota maintains their Japanese manufacturing plants, they are HEAVILY invested on our soil, and they provide a good living to many thousands of AMERICANS--that's MORE than good enough for me to defend them. To bash them today is nothing more than prejudice, because the facts do not support those attacking them.
As for the Confederate flag, I would not display it on anything of mine. I agree with Acidmeld's perspective--unless you are totally invested in its history (outside of the whole slavery issue), you are just asking for trouble. I'm not from there, so the only flag I recognize for this country is the Stars and Stripes, and that's the only one I could defend. Well said, Acidmeld.

Im sure he will respond with something like, "Your a commie for driving that Toyota." Anytime im doing work to my truck he automatically assumes that it broke down and says, " What happened to Toyota reliability?"
Yet, i pick him up and drive him to work because his Chevy 2500 is at the shop atleast once a month. Hypocritical jerk is what he is. Ignorance does not get you far.
