Angry Transfer case cracked, welders' opinion wanted

Had my transfer case and front differential oil changed last week at oil change shop. Noticed some oil on the floor of garage yesterday so went back to the shop to have it checked and how it looked:

Apparently, the "serviceman" over torqued fill plug and cracked the transfer case

I'm afraid that replacements are not readily available so here is the question: Is it weldable, what is involved in welding and how reliable fix that would be.

Thanks

Couldn't you take it back to the shop and tell them what happened? He must have torqued the crap outta that thing! Jb weld might be a temp solution till you can find a weld shop or get the place who broke it to repair it.

I agree on the JB for a temp fix.
Is it weldable? Sure, it's metal and anything is possible. But is there a good welder in your part of the world? Only you would know.
I would NOT want the place that broke it to repair it. They obviously can't handle the simple stuff so why give them the chance to screw it up royally. I would get the place that broke it to agree to PAY to REPLACE it elsewhere at the shop of your choice.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm going to do, have them pay to replace the TC or have it welded at least. Just wanted to weigh my options before meeting them again.

It's a small oil change shop, they cant fix it even they wanted to not that I'll let them touch my truck again. They were going to close when I got there yesterday and owner/manager wasn't there. I'm driving to that place soon

Had the TC welded few days ago

Looks like it's holding up good but I've got two more problems: actuator seals are torn and 4Lo won't engage. New seals are ordered and on their way, going to replace them and fix low range gear at the same time.

Yep, the back cover was removed to weld it. Unfortunately oil is still leaking, not much thou.

The job cost about $55 including $5 for welding but I doubt that would be helpful for you as I'm in the totally different part of the world

The heat from the weld likely warped the case a touch. I don't know what you guys have on the shelves over there, but Permatex makes an oil-resistant thread sealer that's worked for me on similar stuff.
