Unhappy A/C Light Blinking on 2003 LTD

I have 72k miles on my 4Runner and I think the compressor went out. Anyone ever have to replace an A/C compressor. When I turn the A/C on, the light just blinks and the air doesn't cool. The fan works fine, just not the A/C.

Thanks,
bd

Check the relay circled in the picture below, labeled MG CLT on the underside of the relay box cover. If it's white with 90987-02022 stamped on the side, that's likely the problem.

Replace it with part number 90987-02028.

Freaking excellent information. Thank you guys!! It seems to work now, but I'll go ahead and treat it like the problem will come back.

Damn! Mine just started blinking today at 38,000m. They better co-operate at the dealer and fix this under warranty for me or I'll be

My AC light also started blinking and the dealer fixed it under warranty. Lucky I have the extended warranty up to 100K as my truck is already at 68K.

I just replaced this relay and it did fix my A/C. It paid to shop around, the first dealer I called wanted $147 for the relay. I found it at another dealer for $71.

Thumbs up a/c light blinking on 2003 SR5 Sport

Just tried the tip on replacing the faulty relay (90987-02022) with the updated part (90987-02028) and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the help! Ran me about $62 for the part.

Did you have an extended warranty, I assume not as you indicated you paid for it?

I'm booked in next week at the dealer to have this relay fix and they said that I was over the 36,000 warranty. I told them I had the extended warranty and they said, well we'll see.

This should be covered under an extended warranty right?

The dealer covered this under my Toyota certified 6year/100K extended warranty but I had to pay the $50 copay. The total bill came to about $140 so I still saved $90. Give'em hell if they don't honor the warranty or go to another dealer.

I did not have the extended warranty. I am in Charleston, SC and went to West Ashley Toyota for the part. I'm sure I would have paid double the $62 if they had installed, but it's VERY easy to do yourself! Extended warranty should cover, and I believe that one of the threads here indicated that someone's was covered under this. If not, buy the part and do it yourself - there's a diagram in one of the threads to showing exactly where the relay is.

Mine died last month. The compressor clutch stops working when this relay goes out. I paid $ 52 from partznet. The replacement relay is a different part from the original, so I think Toy goofed when they stuck these in the 2003 models.

A/C light flashing

I have a 2006 with 32k miles and it started flashing. I have yet to check the part number but anyone here with an 06 run into the same problem? I would think that the part is different for the model year and it could've just gone bad? Dealers here in Germany are backlogged and I can't get an appt for at least 3 weeks. I may have to suck it up and replace the part myself once I've confirmed the part number.
