P2238 code / where is the sensor?

Hey guys,

My CHECK ENGINE light just came on, which triggered the VSC OFF and TRAC OFF lights to come on (and systems disabled).

The truck is an 04 V6 with 27K on it.

Anyways, I ran the code and got:
P2238 O2 Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit Low - Bank 1 Sensor 1

Anyone with a shop manual know where this sensor is located? I'd like to eyeball it to make sure all 'looks' ok before leaving the car at the dealer.

I did a quick search on P2238, no hits on this forum. I did find some 03-05 Toyota TSBs but not for the 4Runner ( I saw Tundra, Rav4, Sienna, Scion)

Thanks!!!

Bank 1 is the side of your engine with the #1 cylinder... I am guessing it is the drivers side.... But someone please correct me if im wrong. Sensor 1 is the 02 sensor before or up stream of the catilytic converter on that side.

Sounds like you have a h02 sensor that has gone lazy and is not cycling properly.....

You can watch it with a scan tool to see if it is cycling....

Mr Lamb is dead right....the o2 sensor will set you back a few bucks but do the change yourself to save yourself some $$$....do a search on o2 sensors and you should find some good threads to follow up with....

Yep Yep Yep... No charge whatsoever to change out those O2 sensors. My '04 V6 has had two replaced. Took the dealer about 1 hour to get the car in, change the sensor and clear the codes (not to mention 2 smoke breaks and a coffee break in between).

The oxygen sensor, being an emissions item, should be covered for 90 k miles?
