I have a Brand New, Never installed NWOR Ford SB to R-Series Bellhousing kit. This will allow you to bolt a ford Small Block (302, 351W) to a R-Series Transmission. Includes Bellhousing with pivot Arm, Bolts, pilot bushing, throwout bearing, and Friction Disk. Bought for a project but I'm going a different way. Ford Power in your Toy. $700 plus shipping or Local pickup in Tucson, AZ.

I've heard where the Ford small block is much shorter than the Chevy--do you happen to know how much? I certainly like the idea of having the distributor up front.

I've never heard that the sbf is shorter but I do know that it is much narrower that a sbc. And yes the distributor up front is a very nice thing.

Okay, so maybe the width was what was different--which doesn't help much, since the Chevy wasn't bad side-to-side. Front-to-back though, it was a pain--had to move everything backwards about 4 inches, which put the distributor about 1 1/2 inches from the firewall. I keep thinking about the 4.3 V6, which lops off one set of cylinders from the 350. Just not sure if I'll be satisfied with a V6 again, even a beefy one--there's NOTHING like the rumble of a V8! I was looking at some 4.7L Toyota V8's on Craigslist, but there is very little info regarding that swap (at least what I've seen, anyway).

Bob, I have read about a dozen threads on both pirate and yotatech and the SBF fits great in both 1st and 2nd gen runners. can run a stock fan and not modify the radiator location. This becomes a pretty much drop in. NWOR sells motor mounts that bolt up and locate the engine. Stock trans cross member and a engine harness from RJM Injection Tech ? 5.0L EFI harnesses and your good to go. wire up some gages and let it rumble.

Of course this it a total over simplification and every engine swap much less remove and reinstall has many setbacks. LOL But the end result is reliable, efficient 225 horse and 300 ftlbs of torque. and your interior will look totally stock since the r-series trans is in the stock location.

Im still putting a 5.0 in my 85 but decided that because it came originally with an auto I am keeping it Auto. I found an AOD to gear driven adapter and a good AOD so my 85 interior will still look stock. But under the hood it will be all muscle:scared:
