Low profile XM (shark fin) antenna swap

Might as well throw some info out there if it will help anyone on this topic.

I have a 2013 Limited (with JBL/NAV; no Entune). I was able to swap out the OEM sharkfin for the low profile Camry/Avalon antenna (8696006030A1 - Antenna w/o Safety Connect, white pearl). It was a direct swap and retains the XM function for me (though I don't have a subscription since I use Pandora/Apple Music almost exclusively). Mine is the Blizzard Pearl painted version, but they do have it in many different colors, as well as with/without XM I believe. It may not work with 2014+ if, as mentioned above, there was a change in the antenna internals.

The only thing mine does not have is the Safety Connect service. I got a constant red light indicator in the overhead panel. I tried to pull the Emergency/SOS fuse panel, and that worked like a charm! Except that it also disabled the microphone for cell phone use. So I put the fuse back in and just blocked the red light from inside the overhead panel.

My Sirius reception is crystal clear, and couldn't go without Lithium-34 & AltNation-36.

I can tell you I've had reception problems with my G35, and a simple call to (844)287-9220 will resolve the issue (assuming its not something else).

They just ask you to state your current location and confirm your home address, and then refresh/send updated signal to your vehicle. It has worked 100% of the times.
**Note: This is recommended anytime you disconnect the battery**

And don't worry, the number above is not regular CS# (India call center), but is Sirius Loyal Listener Care (been with them since the late 90s), so you get an English speaking rep from here in the states.

Tried all the above. My 2011 4r XM sacked and so does my 2015 4R. Never had an issue with any other vehicle. My lexus and Jeep are good to go

I had completely written off the K9 rack before this... Now it looks like I need to reconsider.
 
Just got my rack installed. This is with the (6) 40mm feet and (2) 50mm upfront.

Just completed the swap. The replacement 2010/2011 Corolla antenna was a direct swap for my 2015.


Wasn't quite careful enough, so got a small crease in the headliner.

Updated first post with additional part numbers for those who have had successful plug and play swaps.
 
I have completed this excellent mod. Thanks to Weeeeee! Perfect fit and easy to do. No crease in headliner. I did swap the innards from the ridiculous sharkfin version to the low-profile replacement version. The connectors did not match, replacement was gray, original was blue. This may be better option anyway, I now know the antenna is the exact same as OEM, because it is the same! The antenna is about 7/8"/24mm in height, big difference. The photo/dirt line also shows the difference in footprint size.

Just saw this & thought sweet then checked price cheapest for brand new was 161$ from camelback ! So ebay one was a used hence lower price . Is that best anyone else has found ? :lookout:
 
Beg pardon part #86960-02050 is 150$ , however part# 86960-02040 which looks like same part is 57$ can anyone confirm these could be same part ? Not sure if the 02050 is whole piece or if #02040 is just the pod with connector ?

any reason we can't take a saw and just cut off 3/4 of the fin off, and seal the hole back up with some black plastic and silicone?

I picked mine up used off Ebay. Didn't have a part number, just listed as a 2010/2011 Corollo XM antenna. Think it was listed at $75, I offered $45, he countered at $55.

I looked up the paint codes, the 2010 Corolla had a Barcelona Red as well so the color did match mine.

What are listed as 2011 antenna's look similar, but have a white connector instead of the blue connector on the 2010.
