New 2010 Trail low speed abrubt shifting

First want to point out that I have lurked and read a lot of useful information from the site. It took me almost 6 weeks to get an account here LOL. I almost gave up because I wasn't able to post for so long. Never received an activation email and finally got a response from the admin by emailing directly.

I just recently purchased a 2010 Mag Gray Trail and love it. My only concern as of late is what seems to be just poor low speed performance. Just checking to see if any 2010 owners have experienced strange erratic shifting only at low speed. I've read a couple of threads about the shifting TSB but my VIN doesn't fall in the category. I'm hoping it will break in because every dealer I call is like "Well no TSB for yours we will need to get it in the shop......" :ybrick:

My biggest frustration is traffic coming to slow stop and resume pressing on the gas and it feels like I'm in 4th gear? Then the computer will QUICKLY try and down shift and it isn't smooth at all. Sometimes when I slow to a stop and then tap the accelerator (low speed) it will like JUMP shift harshly. The transition between shifts on low speed driving is just really abrubt. This shifting issue seems to only happen up to about 20MPH or so.

If you did have a similar issue did it disappear after you put on some miles?

I never "tap" on the accelerator. Maybe that is why the issue is barely noticeable for me. When performing a California Rolling Stop or slowing down to make a right hand turn, after letting off the brake I slowly depress the gas pedal and it slips into gear easily and off I go. At this point, the lag that was perceptible @ 2k miles isn't perceptible at 10k miles. I think erratic tapping of the gas pedal is bound to get mixed results from a drive-by-wire system.
 
Not sure how else to describe it. Just seems to hunt all over for gears when starting from slow speed. The tap is just referring to gently engaging the accelerator vs mashing it into the floor. Hopefully it will work itself out.:thumb3:

I have the exact same issue. Quite annoying...
 
I have TE and mine was built on April 2010 as per sticker on the door jam.

I do not have any hard shifting, but similar to you poor low speed performance. As you said it well, It feel like it in 4th and you need to really press on then it to pick up too quickly.

My truck is a Canadian build, so I am not sure if the VIN # applies. I intend to look into it at first service call. My problem is that I hardly drive this vehicle and it would have to wait till fall before I have enough millage (the truck is primarily used for my hunting)
 
I have a Black TE and had the same problem. I had the TSB done at the dealer. It took one hour and it is completely fixed. It is awesome and runs like a top. I also think it performs better in sport shifting mode too. Call your dealer and see if your truck is one that needs the TSB, it is totally worth it.
