Thai I thought this pic was deserving of its own thread so I split it off - hope you don't mind. I'm also adding below the 2 new pics that tx 4Runner posted in the other thread that he got from tundrasolutions. BTW, I think it looks great in these pics - much better than the fuzzy C & D pics.

Edited to add more pics that Thai posted on page 2 of this thread:

Edited again to add 2 more pics posted by Sven on page 9 of this thread:

Wow...I like it a lot....the only things I am not very happy with is the antenna and the ground clearence...looks lower to the ground even tho it looks like it has bigger tires. Definately offroaders are not gonna like that at all. But there is always the choice of bigger tires and lift and aftermarket bumpers

I'm starting to like it more and more. Still not sure about the interior though.

Can't wait to see more of the trail edition.

Hey, at least the rear spoiler reverted back to the "humpless" design. That's a plus! LOL

Roof racks and cross-bars look like a complete carryover from 4th Gen.

BTW looks much better in these pictures.

Similar design, but the side rails have quite a bit less clearance on the 5th gen. They are quite a bit closer to the roof.

There's more of a ridge at the side edge of the roof of the 5th Gen. I think that "less clearance" in the picture is actually the ridge sticking up. My bet is that the actual distance from the rails to the roof is the same. I can't see redesigning a roof rail system that looks exactly like the old one but has less clearance,

I still think there's quite a bit less clearance. The rack is definitely smaller on the 5th gen, regardless of the height. Look at where it starts and ends, for example. The rack doesn't even go over the driver's door at all, unlike the 4th gen. Plus the roof of the 5th gen looks quite a bit flatter than the 4th gen, which actually had a bit of a convex arc to it one end to the other.

I agree.... looks better here, but the thing looks like its the size of the old sequoia, with the new sequioa body. Nothing really screams '4runner' to me. More or of an XB with a cargo bay, or a sequioa. My 2 cents.

I agree. The looks are deceiving though. Kinda of like when you see Lincoln Aviator and think it's a Navigator (and the same size as a Navigator) until you get up close to it and realize it's the same size as a Ford Explorer.

Something about this new 4Runner does remind me of an xB, sadly.

I think they just moved it back. It's a lot closer to the back than the 4th Gen. I guess time will tell.

I believe the 5th gen is only a couple of inches longer than the 4th gen, so even if they moved it back more towards the rear, the length of the rack is definitely shorter. But like you said, time will tell.

If those side mirrors with lights fit on my 4th gen, that will be my next mod.
