Heatgun trick on weathered fender flares

Tried it yesterday. Very impressed. We'll see how long it holds up. :bravo:

I tried the tinfoil trick yesterday and it worked great. Im not going to describe it or post any pics, Im just letting you know.
 
Sorry, I read about this on here somewhere and thought it was common knowledge. Pics coming tomorrow.

I used a heat gun (carefully) and it restored the faded fender flares to like new. All the grey/whitish tinge is gone without any kind of dressing. Just work slowly and methodically.

You need to be patient because you are lightly melting the outer surface.

I figure if I've taken a hacksaw to my rig (valance for tire clearance), why not a heat gun. :D

Once the gun is hot, hold it about an inch from the plastic and move it back and forth slowly. You will notice the gray start to disappear. Don't work any area for very long and keep moving. That front fender took me about 15 minutes.
 
Maybe a better picture migth help since I can barely tell the diff between the front and the back. I'd still stick with painting them.

Barely tell a difference? Maybe your monitor is lacking. The back one is light gray. The front one is very dark gray. Picture shows it well, IMO.
