Fully plug and play for Limited and Key Vehicles
2020 are very close to being release 2 systems went out to be confirmed, it is different than 2019 Push to start trucks.

2010-2019 trucks are 100% plug and play. Only system on the market that will be 100% plug and play with defroster options and full security options that can be controlled thru the factory remote!

Still have a few 98% plug and play kits left

Bladed key vehicles, i'm sure my system is cheaper than everything out there with more features
Limited Vehicles, i'm sure my system is NOT the cheapest but instead in between everything else out there, but the only system that has security option.

If you are looking for basic, this system is more than you will ever need.
If you are looking at more features like defroster controls, full security, long range remote options or smart phone.
Then we need to chat via email then phone if you want. You'll likely save money in the long run.

Sad to announce that EZgo has been retired. they are no longer available from Compustar. I brought into stock as many as they had and as many parts as they had.
Officially it is gone and no longer available. If you do find one and want it with this system, we can take the conversation offline.

All systems moving forward in this new year will have defroster capabilities. This is because of the latest firmware updates that became available. Now I'm able to have defrosters turned on when the truck is remote started. Yes, mirrors and rear glass. And yes for you lucky ones that have a heated windshield, this is going to turn that in too!!

This is a big edit i should have did a while ago. Now the factory remote will be able to control the truck while it is started. So 3 clicks on the lock button and the truck will start. when you ready to get in, it will not shut down like the factory will when it is remote started. You can use the factory remote while it is remote started now. No more need for the EZ-Go, it can still be used as an option now Real easy install now.

Guys, i have 3 videos showcasing how Compustar using a datalink module will work with your vehicle. Purpose of these videos is to clarify how it works differently than a OEM remote starter.

We need to first establish what type of key your have

-Bladed Key. Most common type across the whole toyota lineup. Remote built into the head of the key with a "G" stamped on the blade near the remote.
-Smart key. Found on Limited Models. This is the key that never needs to leave your pocket.

I will show you how You can remote start your truck and when you get it it will not shut off with a bladed key.

I will show you how a Smart key will work with your truck (using a Lexus ES350, its the same as the 5th gen runners). These remotes will not have take over using datalink Modules. You can use a Fortin Evo-All module in you 2010-2012 4runner. It doesnt officially support 13-15 4runners. I personally have not used a fortin module ina smart key 4runner yet. When I do i will update this post.

OLD VIDEOS Installed a Alarm/Remote Starter and Dronemobile unit. OEM Remote can arm and dis-arm aftermarket alarm system as well as 3 clicks on the lock button on remote will start it up too! Drone Mobile is used to extend range infinitely. Thats why we chose to not invest in a two way remote.

OLD VIDEOS Using the OEM remote you can click the lock button 3 times and it will start. Added in a EZ-Go unit so if the vehicle is started, you can walk up to the vehicle and it will unlock when you are in proximity of the vehicle. EZ-Go is also setup to when you exit the vehicle it will arm the OEM security and lock the doors! Installed a Drone Mobile for the same reason as above!

Last video is giving you a idea on how a Compustar remote starter will work with your smart key 4runner. Idatalink is mimicking OEM start sequence by hitting the lokc button 3 times to make it start. Toyotas and Lexus do not constantly look for the smart key like nissans and infinitis. what this means, you can walk away from a running vehicle and the vehicle will not alert you to tell you it is still running by beeping the horn or flashing the lights. For this reason, thats why the vehicle needs to shut down and then get restarted again. the vehicle needs to validate the smart key again before it can be driven away.

Using a 2011 ES350 for reference. I didnt think to make videos of the first few smart key 4runners I did. Next one i do, I'll make you internet famous LOL.

With aftermarket vs OEM.

Aftermarket can add in Smart phone and desktop control capabilities. No shut down after the door opens on regular bladed key vehicles, this is called take over. It will still shut down on Limited Models with the smart key.

I hope this clears up some confusion on what works and what doesnt. also on how it works.

Sorry but I will keep my 1 mile range with the AstroStart.

That is the biggest benefit for me up here in the Arctic Circle (North Dakota).

OEM fobs obviously have OEM range. The FTX 1400 fobs that I also have reach every bit of the 1000' range they advertise. There are no range limits with the Drone Mobile module I have. So far, the farthest distance I have used it is 30 miles. I had to unlock so my dad could get his glasses he forgot then re-armed it. Works very good. Very little delay. It makes 2-way remotes really unnecessary.

Correct. Thought process is, if you really that far away from the vehicle then a drone unit will virtually eliminate the distance issue.

No need to be sorry. Compustar makes remotes that comes in a variety of flavors. Like your favorite ice cream store. Like your favorite coffee shop with all the different syrups and double shot foam mocha chi latte.

You can get a simple 1 button to a full featured rechargeable 1 mile remote. BTW Compustar was the first to market with a FCC approved 1 mile remote. Notice the key word FCC.

I'm sure with your ASTRO start you can't just upgrade / replace the remote and antenna to go from one way to two way long range. Compustar can.

Thanks for chiming in. If ^^^^ wanted to move to a 2 way led remote, all he would need to do is get a RF package plug, program and play.

The purpose of this thread is to have a roll up of how aftermarket works vs the current factory version.

I'm sure many members will read this thread but not comment. My inbox fills up with these questions 3 to 4 times a week and I don't mind answering everyone's questions. Thought a thread in the 5th gen section could help you guys out. Since there is lots of conflicting info.

hehe, that 1 mile range is great in the open spaces of ND, but when your in a metal building/mall and your at one end and your 4runner is at the other end, my drone will remote start that vehicle easier than effective 1 miles cut down to about 500-1000 feet.

now granted if you have no cell service out in the country I call understand the range of the fob, but since I mostly live in the city, the drone is a better fit.

also to add, the 2014 rav4 H-key fob is a pita currently. until compustar can crack the security, they have to use the spare key to remote start.

the other issue with the rav4, she cant use the oem fob to unlock the vehicle when remote started. have to use the compustar fob or the app.

at least on my LE, I can live with the vehicle shutting off when I open the door, since the primary reason is to warm the vehicle for me.

I will probably never remote start using the fob since I hardly notice its on the belt loop anyway.

which is a pita sometime when I get in and push the start button and it says "wheres the dam fob idiot" and I go "Doh", run back into the house to grab the fob.


edit: hopefully they release the drone app update soon, like before march-20 so I can see how the new app works when you have more than 1 vehicle on the same account. in a holding pattern to see if I need to remove the daughters vehicle and have a separate account. its currently annoying to constantly swap the last vehicle started on the app since the app remembers based on the account, not each individual app.

ie: I start mine and both apps retain the last vehicle started since its reading based on the account. the new app is suppose to remember the last vehicle started within the app not the account.

Of course I do. First hand since day one and first hand how to hack the SD card to accept anything over 32gb!

Awesome unit. I have bought 5 plus dash cams and nothing is comparable to this. Function. Quality stability reliability this thing is awesome.

We know about the H key and Using Tis to program a blank. That's the only solution for bypass ATM.

back story:
Hit and Run:
thanksgiving eve. compustar dash installed in my friends truck. everyone is home. you can see in the reflection in the vehicle that got hit a set of headlights coming real fast. compustar dash recorded a "motion" event. there is actually rear camera footage too but thats not available to me.

quality is much much better than this video show. facebook reduces quality on video clips. the important thing is @ 17 second mark, you will be able to see the licence plate CLEARLY!!

The Dash saved Thanksgiving for that family. Guy that ran, was a friend of a friend of another friend's friends cousin in law 2x's removed or something like that...found out there was dash cam footage with tag info. so he surrendered before the cops came to Lock his ass up. Cops said, thanks for making their lives easier and asked for a copy of the video and BUSINESS CARDS!!

i know compustar is ready to go right out of the box. with everything you need down to the 16gb sd card and sd card adapter to usb dongle. only thinng optional is the GPS antenna.

one thing this does vs everyone else. it prompts you to format sd card every two weeks. this prevents data from corrupting the sd card. i have had umerous occasions trying to fetch the video and the sd card was corrupted. it records with a motion event as well as a impact event in parking mode. and will record impoact in driving mode too. it saves the info to seperate directories for safe keeping.

Question for the OP: Would the EZ-Go over-write the engine shut off (upon entry) after remote start activation in a Limited that has a smart key and an after market Compustart remote starter?

Short answer NO.
Long answer...read on

Limited is a whole different animal.

Clarification: EZ-Go is very much like your factory smart key found on the limited.

Right now if you had a factory remote starter, no matter what key you got it shuts off after a door is opened.

With the limited, installing a aftermarket remote starter from Compustar USING a Idatalink interface, it will shut down when a door opens like in the last video.

BUT!

Fortin | Bypass modules, remote starters and alarm systems Fortin makes a interface called a Evo-All that is supposed to NOT shut down when the door opens. I personally have NOT installed one yet. I have 3 Evo-All's in stock just to have to try on the next 4runner limited i get into my install bay.

Reading the application guide for the Fortin Evo-All, it says "take over" works on 2010-2012 Smart Key 4Runners only. I personally dont know why since they are all the same from 2010-2015. I will have to take their word for it for now till i get a 13-15 Limited in to personally install it to know otherwise.

Anyone out there in t4r world want me to do it for you?

have you run into an issue where the drone mobile sends updates when you use the key to start a vehicle every time and not when you use the app to remote start?

its getting annoying getting 10+ notifications every day she starts/stop the vehicle using the key thru out the day.

I have every thing turned off except alarm and remote start notifications.

in preferences I have only vibration confirmation

in the vehicle settings for that one vehicle, alarm trigger and remote start success is on.

engine on/off is turned off.

Can you post a link to where to find all of these products?

Steve was helpful the whole way, left tip's on the install instructions, followed up to make sure the install went smooth and everything was working as expected.

I don't have that issue on either phone.

Maybe log out on the phone app then restart the phone, sign back into the app.
