Ok guys, let me try to explain these "details" in an illustration.

1) You should determine whether you want the "sun roof opening" or not, if you select to have the "sun roof opening", the RED area will be open. You may want to order the "sun roof insert" (as an free accessory) in order to cover it when you want more rack space. If you select "no sun roof opening", the RED area will be covered with full mesh, you will have no need/use for the "sun roof insert" (so don't order it). This additional mesh is free with this group buy when you order with "no sun roof opening". If you don't have a sun roof on your car, you probably would not want to get the "sun roof opening".

2) If you pick "removable" cross bar, the 2 openings that the BLUE arrow is pointing to will be covered by mesh. If you select "permanent" cross bar (which I believed are stronger), those area will be "opened" like how you see in the picture here.

3) If you pick "40in light bar ready", the 2 vertical bars circled in GREEN will be omitted, so a 40in Rigid E or SR will fit nicely there (some other brands should too)


(this particular rack is NOT for gen5 4runners, so don't be alerted to see the mesh at the shark-fin location; that mesh will not be there for the gen5 4runners')

After the wheels and n-fabs got put on, it was time for one of those coveted Gobi Racks! Hopped into [MENTION=119516]jicko[/MENTION] 's group buy, and scored a sweet deal on rack and ladder. Install went relatively smoothly, other than the whole replacing gas struts solo, that was a toughie. Overall, this thing is great! Doesn't flex at all, even with above the static load limit on it.

Great copyrighted product from a horrible company. Fantastic marketing compensation for all the crap the company has pulled. Hope you guys get your stuff delivered in a timely manner as historically they have made it more complicated as necessary.

There are plenty of places for you to post your opinion (yes I have read every single post in every single thread on this subject) of this company. This is the "Group Buy" sub forum. If you want in, great. If not, move along and post somewhere else.

Thats your opinion. I am simply stating what happens in every Shrockworks group buy or SW thread in general, when people complain and degrade the company with shipping time frames(even knowing prior there is a 6-8month turn around time) and such yet the mods let that slide.

Getting a GOBI is fine, no qualms here. I just think people should be in the know of their shipping practices/powdercoating timeframes. .delays etc. Not condemning anyone for buying one. Its your own money, but I think these group buys should be a little more open with the actual operations of the companies they are doing business with. Seems like there is a double standard depending on the company with group buys and on this forum with what gets censored.

It hasn't happened in the latest Shrockworks GB. Feedbacks continued to flow to the companies, they change their process, and make things better (or at least set more realistic expectations.)

Seems like there is a double standard depending on the company with group buys and on this forum with what gets censored.

Have you purchased from Gobi before? And have a personal experience to share? If not, then it would be a you heard some dude who lived next street down the road heard this or that.....

What's the problem with their "shipping practices/powdercoating timeframe"? (There may be issues previously, but they had been addressed; I provided feedback to them and tried to helped them to improve the process and customer experience). The "lead times" had been updated in this particular GB to reflect the current expectation.

If you have an opinion, again, there are other places for discussions..... instead of crapping a for sale / group buy thread....

Perfect enjoy the racks as I previously STATED

edit: but if you must know a simple search at the top will show the several threads/reviews on Gobi delayed processing time/shipping time/powdercoating lies experienced by numerous members here let alone others who aren't on this forum. . . . . . . but I assumed being a senior member I shouldn't have to walk you through these steps to follow up on your research.

Since you weren't personally involved, you didn't really see how all those cases, at the end, got resolved.

Part of the reason for the extended lead times was the fact that we dropped 50 4Runner racks order to them. And when we first set up the GB, they weren't expecting so many of us. Even tho they wanted to "cap" the deal, I convinced them to "take more".

Thru the process, they were swamped and couldn't communicate effectively, and a few communications might have been dropped. This is what they are constantly trying to improve.

At the end, everyone who had an order from our last group buy, got their racks, and had them installed satisfactorily. There was some wait (longer for some and shorter for others), but at the end, well worth the wait, for the quality product we got.

I had followed up with many of the participants, most, if not all, of them are happy with the result. And many of them had gotten some form of compliment on their racks on their rock crawl and their mall crawl trips!
