I was looking at my most recent purchase, a 2004 Sport with a supercharged V8. The 4Runner only has 58,808 miles. I purchased it after it went through an insurance pool auction so it has some damage but it's repairable. While I was looking carefully at the engine I noticed the telltale signs that the front of the engine had been messed with.
A trip to Toyota Owners website confirmed my suspicion that the timing belt has been replaced, on 1/16/15 at 56,839 miles at Durango Toyota.
For those of you that have changed at timing belt on a 2UZ-FE, you understand the steps required to complete this service.
The first thing I ran into was the fan bolts were so tight I had to remove the complete fan pulley support and use heat to remove the nut.

To remove this fan pulley bracket, the plastic cam shaft pulley covers come off, One Bolt Missing. Next the air compressor. One Bolt Missing & Bracket Broken. The bracket holds the compressor into place to help start the top bolt.

After everything was removed I confirmed that the water pump and timing belt are new and shiny!
Then I looked for other signs that dealership mechanic had done his best. I found on the plastic cover around the lower engine pulley was missing a bolt. The last thing I found was the nut located on the top stud of the power steering pump was gone.
To sum it up:
Cooling Fan Nut Over Tightened
Cam Cover Bolt Missing
Air Compressor Bolt Missing & Bracket Broken
Lower Cover Bolt Missing
Power Steering Pump Nut Missing
My purpose it not to condemn dealership mechanics, just the one that did this job. He might have been distracted and did not tighten all the bolts, but in less than 2,000 miles I have to believe they were all left on the floor or work bench. Luckily I have all the extra bolts because I am rebuilding another engine at the moment, I'll have to get them replaced to complete it now!
For anyone having service done in Durango, be vigilant and check their work!
Also they did not put a sticker anywhere to show that the timing belt was replaced!
