Found two great videos of our trucks. One of which is the 5 mph video. And the other is the 40 mph.

Gotta say, the crumple zone on our truck is great. the cabin didn't even move.

Feeling better abou my purchase every day.

My question is, do you think they would part out the one in the video

Lots of plastic in the front end! The cabin does hold up very well. Also check out the Honda Pilot, the result for the cabin is about the same, BUT the entire rear end collapses when the Pilot comes back down. I guess the unit body doesn't have the same strength as a real boxed frame.

wow, she sure has some hang time, but landed on all 4s nonetheless. The Element really has hops!

:bash: :bash: Great website. The 5mph is same color as mine. I felt sat that they would crash it at 40, but there was a different color. Phew... :eek: Check out that not only cabin didn't collapse but even the windshield is intact. That is some good engineering there. Not that i want to test mine in action, but nice to kow.:awais: :D
 
It was rough to watch, but I was impressed with the way the truck held up. It even looked like it held up better than the XC90 and had less bounce back. Now if you want to see some scary stuff, watch the Honda Element go into a barrier at 40mph. :eek:

that has to be the scariest thing that i have ever seen. The driver and passenger don't even stand a chance in a 40 mph crash.

Ford, doing great things to people
 
And then you watch the tundra.

How did they ever let the ford on the road, when they can make a pickup that performs like the toyota.

I didn't get up to the pickup truck setion. That was a scary thing! The entire passenger compartment crumbled like an accordian. I would not want to get caught in the middle of that! Personally, I think your body would be slpit at the waste if you were in the Ford. :behead:
 
IMO, it looks like Toyota is the only one here that really conducted their own 40mph offset crash test during the R&D of a full size truck. As for the high repair costs of the the 4R, I think that its more important for the driver's & passengers' injuries to be kept at minimal amount at the expense of the vehicle itself. It would cost the insurance companies much more $$$ for bodily injuries than it would to repair the damaged vehicle that is doing what it is supposed to. I think the insurance premiums should reflect these factors.
 
After watching all those side-impact crashes I'm afraid to go out for a drive--no matter what I'm driving--unless I'm in an 18-wheeler, there is always somebody bigger than me.

Really wish I had those side-impact airbags right about now.
 
check out the 2002 exploder...

Not only does the front wheel end up inside the passenger cabin, the floor buckles out from underneath the truck.... Once that floor is gone what are those seats attached to?

Plus, I think that generation is the #1 vehicle on the road in the US (most vehicles registered of the same model).


The most populus vehcile in the US is a hill billy tin can.
