Homelink Garage Door Opener
Anybody knows if I can get the Homelink Garage Door Opener option as a kit for my 2004 Sport Edition from a Toyota dealer.
Is it a plug in option or do I have to any wiring???
Thanks,
Bernie

I've not seen it as a kit, but have heard that the prewiring is already there. You could call Todd at Toyota of Richardson to see if there is a part for it.
If not, there are also auto-dimming mirrors with HomeLink built in -- go to the Mito web site at http://www.mitocorp.com/homelink_mirrors.htm for more information.
The site made it look like it would be fairly easy to install the mirror.

According to the 2004 4Runner brochure, Homelink is optional on the SR5 and Sport, and standard on the Limited.
However, if your Toyota distributor doesn't order vehicles from Japan with this feature included, you won't be able to get it unless you special order a vehicle from Japan with the feature on it -- or have your dealer seach the country for a vehicle from another distributor that might have it.

I finally get my Homelink unit.
Today I went to my dealer and after searching the Toyota DATABASE I was able to find the Homelink unit for my 04' Sport
I was not able to located it before because I was looking for a module, and it is not that. The Homelink system comes with the upper console, so I ordered the unit, retail was $126.00 and I end up paying only $75.00 because the dealer had one in stock that was ordered by mistake. The installation was a snap. It took me less than 30 minutes to have it up and running.

I've been looking into doing this as well! Do you happen to have any part numbers or pictures of the install? Thanks!

Part Number
The part number is 63670-0W030-B0, PLATE ASSY, MAP LAMP. The only difference from the stock unit is that It has the PC board and the three buttons for the HomeLink.

Consider a Homelink autodim
When we were shopping for a '03 Sport Edition, I wanted both an autodimming mirror with compass display and Homelink. The dealer couldn't locate either for me, despite what it says in Toyota's brochures.
I solved both problems by purchasing a Gentex autodim mirror with compass display and Homelink built in. Cost me $210 shipped, which includes $15 to have the displays and LEDs changed from green to orange to match the instrument panels in the 4Runner. Hookup was a snap (same as putting in any autodim mirror for which there have been lots of threads posted on this forum).
Just another potential option you might want to consider. Let me know if you want the info on the seller on these units.

The name of the vendor is Bob Prim. His e-mail is [email protected]. I originally found him surfing through autodim mirrors auctions on eBay and e-mailing him if he sold the Homelink inputs. Everything was delivered as promised and in "as new" condition, though not in original manufacturer packaging.
Good luck! Let me know if you need any more info. By the way, the most helpful document I found for a really nice professional install is the Toyota instruction manual posted by Woody on this forum:

How can you be certain that the homelink will work with your garge door openers?
I inherited Genie (Home Depot brand) when I bought the house.

Don't hold me to this, but I think that as long as your garage door opener was made after 1982, it should work with Homelink. Looking at Homelink's webpage, it should be able to be programmed to work almost any RF-compliant device in the 288-418 MHz frequency range. The key to programming is having a handheld remote for your garage door opener to hold up to the unit.
In any case, I wouldn't be worried with a common brand like Genie.

Just an update, I ordered this part but when it came in it did not have my sunroof button on it. The part number for this if you have a sunroof is: 63670-0W040. The only difference is one of the 3's is a 4.
Can't wait to put it on this weekend.

Homelink
Toybox, I have been looking for such a unit desperately!. Where did you order yours?. How much it is costing?. Is it easy to install (ourself) or needs to be done by dealer?.
I too have sun/moon roof in my Sport V8.
Appreciate your response.
Thanks.
