After alot of research and waiting I finally upgraded my 4Runner from 20's to 22's. It took a long time and alot of math for me to get the combo right. JThree4Runner who is a member here helped me out by getting some much needed info from his friend who has 23's. I went with the exact same style wheel and the same brand of tire since I was very happy with them other then the size.

The wheels are Eagle 026's, 22x9.5 with a 14m.m. backspacing. The tires are Falken STZ04's in the size of 285/40/22. This size tire is brand new to the market and I waited in what seemed like forever for them to be released. I spoke with Falken earlier this year who did have this tire in devolpment at the time and promised a 4th quarter release date in which they met. They don't rub at all, but are extremely close (1/8th inch) in the front at full lock.

Below are a couple pics I snapped today. They aren't the best and I will get more when time allows. I'm aware some aren't fans of big wheels. I respect your opinion so feel free to move on.

Uhhh!!!! I hate you.:D Those rims look sweet!!! Question are the any rubbing and aren't you afraid of cracking those rims. Especially with the craters and bumps around town you seem to have more rims then tires?
 
Dude, that looks freaking ridiculous! nice!!!

I know you said you were in Woodbridge area, but have yet to see you around time. I'm sure it would be hard to not see you now :D

So far there has been no rubbing at all. It is however extremely close (1/8th inch at full turn). When I get some free time I will take more pictures so you can see the tire itself better and with the wheels turned. If any rubbing did happen then there's room to do a little trimming inside the fender well. It's nothing you would be able to see unless you stuck your head in there. I don't anticipate any rubbing issues in the future but I do have the trimming option if needed.

I'm not at all concerned with bending the wheels. Compared to most other big wheel cars/trucks on the road mine has more then enough tire to compensate for your average pothole.

The 20's are exactly the same as my 22's, only 2 inches smaller. The tires are also the same Falken STZ04's in the size of 275/45/20. I am going to sell them. If your interested then let me know quick. I plan to put them on Ebay later this week, unless you get them first. I accept Paypal, credit cards, checks, etc.:D

All I can say is that your 4runner is freakin sweet looking. I can honestly say that it is the best looking 4th generation that I have seen.

Thanks man I appreciate that. I'd really like to lower the back end just a bit to make the truck sit level but nobody makes a spring kit to do that yet. I may take matters into my own hands in the future though.

Just use a couple of 2" spacers to raise the front end to level out your sharp looking 4Runner! Man your truck is blimpie-bling!
 
I'm usually not a fan of big wheels on 4Runners, but those look great! I think you probably picked the best looking 22's out there, because I've never seen anything better than those. :cool:

Thanks. I'd rather lower the back an inch or two rather then lift the front. I don't want to create anymore gap between the wheel and fender then what's already there. That is a good idea that I never thought of though.

I apprecaite it. The great thing is the wheels aren't as exspensive as most comparable wheels and still look decent. My main intention was to put a wheel on that looked somewhat similar to the stock wheel but a little more bold. From everyone's comments thus far it looks as if I achieved that. I just want a clean looking truck, nothing too extreme or overdone.

This is a 1 inch drop all around, and I'm sure if you check through NOPI, or Godfather Customs, or Belltech, etc... You can find 2 inch lowering springs for the back. Whole separate crowd for lowering stuff, seriously, I'm sure you could find them if you look, and good quality stuff too.

I'm lifting mine, always lower 2wd, and raise 4wd's that how I roll:bash:

I called Performance Products and they don't offer the 1" drop for 03-05 models. I will check the other places you mentioned though. Thanks for the info. I hope somebody has what I am looking for.
