Hopefully it will work. If it does, let me know. I live about 30 min from SF, so I'd come check it out if you do the install and like it.
 
what is that.. is it even 4runner specific?? Its doesn't say anything about fitting on any vehicles... so... :(

BTW: the original borla fits on a 2003 4runner WITH airbag, XREAS, and the spare tire.
 
IForce, you're correct about the exhaust working with the 03 Sports with XREAS (and no removal of spare tire). Unfortunately, after 03, they moved the XREAS equipment and that meant the dual exhausts for the V8 no longer fit (i.e. TRD and Borla systems). Only the Magnaflow with the side exit fit because it didn't have a pipe running across to the driver's side behind the spare.

In theory, this new Borla kit is supposed to work with the newer 4Runners with V8 and Sport Edition (XREAS) without removing the spare tire. Hopefully it works!

so what your saying is that the TRD and BORLA dual exhaust will ONLY fit on a 2003(with XREAS,RAS,ST) with no modifications?
 
That's correct. From what I've learned by reading posts on this thread and other sources, the TRD and Borla exhausts WILL fit on the following 4Runners with V8s:

ALL 2003 4Runners (regardless of XREAS option)

ALL 2004/2005 4Runners without XREAS

ALL 2004/2005 4Runners equipped with XREAS and with spare tire removed

This new kit from Borla is supposed to solve the spare tire removal issue so owners of 2004/2005 4Runners with XREAS can have the dual exhaust and still keep the spare mounted underneath.

Thats was the answer I was looking for. Problem is... either go for the new exhaust... or buy the Revo's figuring that rainy season is practically upon us here in the Bay. Decisions decisions... :awais:
 
all you would have to do is purchase just the muffler and have a shop custom fit it. that's what i did. i just bought a magnaflow muffler and the shop customed the rest from the cat all the way to the tail pipe. i didn't want a chrome tip so he just slanted it about 30 degrees and painted all the pipe black with black bar-b-que pit paint to match my 4runner. it looks bad a$$.
 
2004rnr, that's definitely another option. Unfortunately, most exhaust shops (at least in my area) don't use the same quality of tubing and don't have mandrel benders when they custom-fit exhaust pipes. The cat back systems provided by Borla, TRD, Magnaflow, etc. offer stainless mandrel bent tubing. That's also why we pay more.

Two options, just depends on what the price range is and individual preferences.
 
Yeah, it's way too expensive. Hopefully it will be available from online vendors for cheaper once people start buying it.

OK LET ME INTERJECT, I have an 04 4 runner v8 with xreas ans air suspn. i have had trd duals since the first week i owned it, all I had to to was modify the left hanger bracket, spare fits perfect too.

what kind of modifications are we talking about? welding? cutting? sawing?

At this point, you could only choose either 2 out of 3 :cool:

YYYYYYYYup.

I cut the left hanger bracket, then re-welded it back in the same spot after spinning it 90 deg. Easy..

Oh yeah, my 'runner has X-reas, a spare AND air suspension.
