2006 SE with NAV and RSE

After 98 days of waiting, I finally got the truck this week. I was fortunate in that I asked the dealer to just "make the truck" legal. As a result they only removed the exterior plastic from the body and left everything else (interior plastic, windows stickers, even the plastic on the wheels). I removed everything myself and detailed it this weekend.

yes the front windows are tinted with 20%, but appear to darker than the rear windows. I have not decided to redo lighter or not.

Matoolie...great ride! I had no idea the nav was available with JBL...I didn't think it was on the 05. How many speakers? I also had no idea you could watch DVDs on the nav screen! I'm jealous!!! By the way, I noticed the nav unit now comes with a cd changer. How many discs?

WOAH WOAH WOAH! I have two questions for you here.

1. How did you get the nav to play DVD movies? Did you modify it or was that a stock feature?

2. Did the CD changer come stock as well? Everything I have read has said that you cannot have a CD changer added to the nav system from the factory.

It has 8 speakers. Center dash, 2 speakers (tweeter and full range) in each driver door, 1 speaker in each rear door and rear sub.

The NAV unit has a 4 disc changer built-in.

1. The NAV itself does not play the DVD. The RSE has the DVD-video player. It sends the signal to the NAV unit for display. It only displays the picture when the truck is not moving and the parking brake is on. And simply touching the NAV screen brings up the DVD player controls for the RSE and you can have full control of the player.

2. The CD changer is built into the NAV, similar to the 6-disc indash JBL unit. Except it only holds 4 discs.

Sorry LSUMBA......the NAV unit showing the DVD-video is standard feature of the NAV & RSE system. No mod. done.

wow...that is awesome news for me matoolie! I have a new 06 Limited on order with the NAV system. I did not get the RSE setup, but I was upset that they did not make the changer available from the factory (I have issues with port options). Now that I see (as you say) that the NAV comes with a 4 disc changer, I am so jacked! Especially since Ican rip a boatload of MP3s on 4 CDs & have them always in there.

No problem. I was just as happy as you when I found out that I had 4-disc changer as opposed to 1. I completely agree about the MP3 discs.....I have been putting them together this weekend and just finished my 3rd tonight. 1 more to go.

Whoa! That's an awesome feature! I've seen in on the Sienna, but I'm glad Toyota finally included it on the 4Runner.

Congrats! That is one great looking truck you purchased! I really like the upgrades to the 2006 Sports. I can't believe that the JBL radios with nav now have the ASL feature. I thought that was Lexus exclusive! Does your nav have the bluetooth feature built into it? Also, the built in 4-CD changer is a great surprise. The Toyota website only lists the nav as having a single CD player. Good luck with the new truck!

Thanks!! I was fortunate that the dealer agreed to not detail it or anything. I put Klasse AIO/SG package on this weekend with 2 coats of the SG. Probably put another 1 or 2 coats on next weekend. Did the interior with 303 protectant.

Appreciate it!! Yes it does have bluetooth, but working with that will have to wait until next year when I get a compatible phone.

Nice truck.........I thought only the SR5 models had the plastic (fake) chrome like grille up front. The Sport and Limited are suppose to be color matched grilles right?

SR5=chrome grill, Limited=body color grill, Sport=smoke chrome grill. The smoke chrome lis darker than standard chrome and looks good I think. Much better than if it was standard chrome.

To Clarify

Just to clarify, last week, I ordered a 2006 Limited V8 with Nav in the Shadow Mica color. I was told that with Nav, no CD changer was available. I was also told that there was no aux port in the back to add it later.

Are you saying that there is a multi-disc changer that comes with the Nav for 2006??

The CD changer is built into the NAV unit, similar to the 6-disc indash JBL unit. Except it only holds 4 discs. It is not an external changer.

Okie....thanks for the infomation. I just purchased an 2005 SR5 chrome grille for my 2004 truck. Thinking I should have bought the Sport Edition smoked grille.

Awesome looking truck! Trying to get my sales rep to special order the same thing as well except in Limited trim. Could you post a picture what it looks like behind the screen/display? My '04 Camry has two slots, top's CD and bottom is map DVD. Thanks!

The '06 4runner NAV unit is exactly the same as your Camry NAV. Single top slot for CD & single bottome slot for map DVD.

What state is your dealer in? If you want that private, I understand, could you tell me what region your dealer's in or send me a PM? California dealers are telling me they cannot special order a Japan built Toyota, only US built. I want to get a V6 Limited with navigation.
