Looking for Opinions on White Lettering

Hello all,

I'm planning on getting some better shoes for my 4runner in the near future. I'll probably be going with REVO's in 265/70/17.

The question I have is whether to have the white raised letters onboard or in. Since I have a Black Limited 4WD I'm not sure how the white letters will look. Will they look weird on a Limited?

So... Blackwall or White Letters?

I've changed my stock Dunlops to Revos and had the same problem. After thinking some time I figures out that on black vehicle black-out is better then white-out. You can see some pictures in my My 4Runner Project thread. Check it out. If you would have any additional information or pictures, just ask... ;):
 
Personally, I prefer the white lettering out. I have a black Runner and I like the extra bit of contrast provided by the white letters.

I too will be getting Revos soon, and its gonna be white out for me.

You'll got a ton of opinions and you should just do what you like but with white letters out you will need to give them a little extra attention to keep them clean and from getting all brownish colored.
 
One question I have AlexJet...

In your pictures and others I've seen, the REVO's look "dirty" compared to what I'd expect from a brand new tire. This also only seems to be the case when the white letters are facing inboard (blackwalls out).

Is it just that you haven't cleaned them or is that how they look with the white letters on the inside?

And yes, I had the white letters showing on my last vehicle so I know how much it takes to keep them looking good.

I just think the white letters will either look great because it'll make my 4runner more offroad and aggressive looking or terrible because they'll look out of place on a Limited.

Dirty ???
Hmm, possibly it because on the last picture I post in this thread I cleaned the vehicle, but didn't have times to clean the wheels. It also may look dirty as I'm driving and doing some off-roading. Unfortunately I do not have any images of the tires just been installed. Most of them taken after a few weeks. But anyway, I'll look in my archive to see if I have some nice clean shots.
 
Another vote for black out.

I have never had white letters out.

Black just looks cleaner and less distracting and emphasizes the black tire donut filling the wheelwells.

I have a black limited as well and went with black-wall out. white-wall out suits a sports edition more.

black-wall out all the way!

Just get the Terra Grapplers, then you don't have to decide (all black). :D
 
My runner is an 02 limited and white. I think they are sporty looking so I like white out on it. The 03's and newer don't look at sporty to me so I'd prolly go white in on those.
 
White letter out. On my 04 SE I replaced the stock white letter dunlops with black wall Michelin Cross Terrains and I hated the way it looked until the day I traded it in on the '06. Just my .02 cents. :D

White letters out.....















































...were cool back in 1985, along with window louvers, pinstripes, curb feelers, and those little chrome handles on the B-pillars.

Welcome to the 21st century. Blackwalls are in. :bouncy2:
 
C'mon Snap, I thought you were a black is beautiful kind of guy...

I switched to black out because the white out was a bit too busy for me.

Either way, sweet ride...
 
i think it all depends on what truck/color/tire you choose, i would go black wall out with almost every other tire except the bfg mud terrain, but thats just my preference, and it might change in a fw years, but as far as the revo's, black wall out on those for sure!
