I really like it. Three quick questions:

That looks fantastic. Those TJM's have a really nice look.
I had one of those on my old Tacoma and loved it. I rear-ended an Oldsmobile 88 with it. It totalled the Oldsmobile but my truck had no damage. I just had to re-align the bumper afterwards.
I notice you had clear lenses on your old bumper. It is fairly easy to make clear lenses for the TJM bumper, using Lexan and a diffuser panel from an overhead flourescent light fixture (like the kind you would find in an office building). It looks nice, not ghetto at all.
Also, TJM makes a grille bar that mounts in the center of the bumper and just protects the grille. It looks really nice, and is very sturdy, but it limits you on the size of lighting you can fit under there. The biggest light I could fit was a Hella ff200, which is slightly oval instead of round.
Again, your truck looks great.

i like that bumper... perhaps i should have gone with TJM instead of ARB... oh well... that is what the shop had at the time... looks real good lee, are you still thinking about installing that ARB chrome hoop?
i notice your stock skid plating, with that bumper on.....
lets just say you better start saving up for some real skids, I have a guy here that can fab some up for right around 300, give or take as the price of steel changes. from the bumper to the gas tank, though the mounts on that bumper would prob. be different than on the ARB.
hit anything with it yet? or is it still too pretty for you to want to run into something?
agian, looks good on the black truck, i had thought about installing clear's in my bumper... but i dont even have clear parkers, so i just never did, saw a pic and it looked good though... perhaps later in life

havent hit anything yet, just put it on this weekend. im going on a run on feb 18th, nothing scary, actually a stockable trail, but itll be the tjm's virgin run!
i actually like how it is now... clear up top, amber below... but really its just a nice look, nothing worth worrying about function-wise... so far youve been dead-on by focusing on practical mods
thanks for the kind words, any info you can give me on your guy who does skids would be great.

it it just a guy i know down here in florida, he actually works/lives 2 hours from where i live now, but im back down in that part of florida every couple weeks, they are extremly strong and i have dropped them on the rocks at tellico, they are clean and when looking at the side of my truck, you can tell that there is something funky underthere, makes your underbelly really smooth. hell, i need to take my skids off anyways and change some fluid's so in the next week or two i will post up some pics. if you want them and you go to tellico when im there, i could bring them up and we could bolt them on before you go on the trails there. im going to have him do my sliders so maybe if he builds both then we can each get a few bucks off.
the guy has his own shop and goes to college at USF, he has built skids/rock sliders/exo cages for a few guys in my club down here and its all quality work, very cool guy to know.
and there are way too many practical mods to finish before i go and do anything for "looks" so i have a few more up my sleeve that will be happening soon.
next semester im going to take a welding class (elective) and then start tinkering with some different ideas...
the guy has his own shop and goes to college at USF, he has built skids/rock sliders/exo cages for a few guys in my club down here and its all quality work, very cool guy to know.
and there are way too many practical mods to finish before i go and do anything for "looks" so i have a few more up my sleeve that will be happening soon.

First, that bumper looks awesome Lee, the T-17 is moving up on my priority list fast.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm looking into skid protection as well and was thinking about the BudBuilts. If the whole underside can be done for $300 I'd be interested as well. If you find out some info I'd appreciate it if you could toss me a PM. Thanks.

it would not be the whole underside, as the cost of steel alone would be near 300 for that much of it, it would cover everything except your gas tank (already has a stock skid, and its kind of protected by other components) and your exhaust, perhaps he would lower the price if two full sets were built (for the TJM) and i still did my sliders at the same time... perhaps as low as 375? (for full skid plating) front bumper to gas tank, no exhaust skid needed)
but seriously lee... get that thing on the trail and let us see that bumper in action.... ive waited long enough to see this

im running about 1.75" of lift only right now (pp springs give about that much in reality, despite the 1" claim) but im gonna add in 1" spacers hopefully by summer to put me up closer to 3".
no plans to go ome.. right now id rather improve what i have than completely swap out...
that will leave me with more money for 285's and black steelies in the coming months

man i wish i had some 4runners that looked like that down here, i just found out its a 20 hour drive from where i am to the sam adams brewery... so i might be up in that area soon... so you look a little more ready for tellico now lee, its looking to be the second week in march as a good week for me... so what do you think?
