N.C. State tailgaters to face tougher partying rules
RALEIGH
Tailgating fans at N.C. State University football games can expect tighter rules this fall for parking lot parties.
University officials plan a ban on beer kegs and a requirement that people drinking alcohol have photo IDs with them. The new rules also would require fans to lower the volume of music in parking lots.
"All we are really trying to say to people is, have fun and behave," said Tom Stafford, vice chancellor for student affairs.
The proposed changes come after a shooting in 2004 resulted in two deaths in a lot across from the stadium. The first changes were to allow only fans with game tickets to tailgate and to keep parking lots closed until a few hours before the game. The new rules could receive final approval within a few weeks. -- associated press
