Installed FJ coils on 2006 4runner with Revtek for more lift

I installed the Revtek lift on my 2006 4runner and only gained 2.5 inches in height. I also experienced a top heavy / floaty feeling when driving.

I installed the new FJ coils and shocks yesterday (and the Revtek Kit) and gained another inch in height. The ride quality also increased substantially. The 4Runner seems a lot more stable now wiht the firmer FJ coils.

My issue is:

Revtek says to only lift the 4runner 3 incles. I am currently at 3.5 inches.

Will I have problems with ball joints and other components if I leave the lift increase at 3.5?

I can lose 3/8ths of the lift by removing the Revtek metal spacer, which would put me at 3 1/8 inches in total lift.

Any knowledge or help is greatly appreciated!!

Hmm,not sure about 4th gens but on 3rd gens 3" lift seems to be the max with out any other mods to reduce driveshaft angles and such.

Not sure...i guess that it should help. Maybe run with the current setup a while to see if your truck will "settle" down to around 3".

Thanks for the fast reply! You'll have to let us know how they do with a heavy load compared to the stock springs.

You'll probably need longer brake lines in the back as well as longer links for the antiswaybar.
 
I used the extension that Revtek provided in their lift and it worked fine. I didnt have any problems with the swaybar links lining up either.

I think that you should try and get FJ's swaybars. I hear that FJ's swaybars are thinner than 4runners, thereby allowing it to flex better than 4runner.

Brakeline extensions? You said "extension", singular, so I am uncertain.

Also, it is not whether the links will line up to attach but how the swaybar will work with the longer travel suspension. That is why longer links are needed. If you were talking about brakeline extensions they are necessary for when the shocks are at full extension which will be longer than stock shocks.
 
The Revtek kit comes with a longer bolt and 2 sleeves to space out the bracket for the rear brake lines. You are not extending the actual brake line only the bracket that they are attached to.

But I will jack up the 4runner to make sure the lines have enough slack and check the sway bar issue.

Actually, 3.5" on a 4th gen. is fine -- just don't go any higher than that, and you won't run into problems. The Revtek "brake extension" is fine for up to around 4", and you do not need to worry about your swaybar --- many of us are (and have been) running over 3" of lift without issue. At one point, I was running 4.5" of lift and the only thing I had to change was the panhard bar.
