T4R off-road meet at Withlacoochee Forest Nov. 19

Any places in Central Fl to do some light offroading?

Edit: I changed the title of this thread to announce the off-road meet at 11 am Sunday November 19th at the intersection of 50 and 471, then we'll hit some of the forest trails :cool: See details below.

Withlacoochee State Forest is a good place about an hour west of Orlando - call the State parks dep't and they'll send you a nice map where you can see several good light offroading trails.
 
just be careful... the withlacoochee forest is a very very wet place to be, esp this time of year. more than once my headlights have gone underwater there and i have seen 1 vehicle bite it due to water. there are two well known tracts, richloam and citrus. richloam is the wet place, citrus is the dry place. i like citrus. here are pics from both so you get the idea

You guys interested in meeting up out there for some offroading some Saturday in November? I think I'm free any of those Saturdays except the last one (going to Tally to watch the Gators stomp on the 'noles that weekend :D )
 
of course im interested in going offroading!! only problem is im winchless, and im REALLY busy in november, but ill be in tally to watch the gators finish off the noles (better remember to remove all my gator stuff from my truck, no sense to leave it on and let some drunk guy beat up my truck!!)
 
I'll move this thread to the Florida section.

How about Saturday Nov. 11? We could meet up around 11 am at the gas station (I think it's a shell?) on the corner of 50 and 471. Then we could hit up the Richloam forest trails.
 
im going to be in south florida that weekend hunting, i like the idea abt richloam though, any other possible days? the next weekend on sunday im free
 
That works for me. So we'll meet up around 11am Sunday November 19th at that intersection. Time to go look for my old tow strap :D

fooldall, don't let Runnerup's pics scare you - there are plenty of very easy trails to have fun on. Yes there is some crazy stuff too, and plenty of challenging side trails all over the place, but the main trails aren't that bad. Here's a pic of my old LX470 at Richloam to give you an idea of what most of the place looks like:

gatorgreg, im not seeing your pic. now im starting to get excited!! i wonder if i can get a few things on my truck fixed before we go, if not its no biggie (just need some new mounts for my ARB and a new PS rack)

i havent been to richloam in awhile so im not sure of the conditions of the trails that i usually run, perhaps i will get a chance to run thru before we go.

remember that citrus is only like 20 minutes from richloam on the other side of 75 so if we get bored with richloam perhaps we can hit up some flexy stuff.

remember for everyone else that might want to go but is worried about breaking your truck or not being modded enough to do these trails... ITS FLORIDA!!! all you need is 4wd and a little sense of adventure. no one will make you do anything you dont feel yourself/your truck is capable of.

im going to order some parts tomorrow!
 
Cool - I'm not so worried about breaking the truck, but the struts and shocks are crappy on the STREET right now...:D need to get em changed before i do anything even remotely offroad. Do you guys have a good guide on third gen's strut and shock replacement?
 
OK, that's all done. Went ahead and paid a shop to install them- went with Monroe Reflex's all the way around...

So, when are we going again? :D

Great - I think we're settled on meeting up at 11am Sunday November 19th at the intersection of 50 and 471 - I think there's a Shell station there.
 
Id love to join you all sometime im up in georgia but i dont mind throwing a buddy in the car and making a trip down for a weekend, are there any good campsites maybe on site or around the area? Next time you all get together let me know in advance and ill plan it out. Have Fun!
