I guess my hands are too fat, it would have been too hard for me to try and run the wires through the back. It was much easier for me to just take the grill off and see what I was doing. I'm very pleased with the results, I'm happy with the 6000k. I think the 5000k would have been too bright (blinding), and the 8000k too blue, with light output = to OEM. The light are very similar to my Acura TL light.
I'll post some night shoots as soon as I can figure out how to takes pics with the digi-cam, w/o them showing a glare.

HID Flickering
Hey man, I own a 2001 Toyota 4Runner Limited and of course living in Canada most vehicles here are equipped with DRL. As a result of me installing the exact same setup as you did H4-2 6000K, whenever I turn the truck I start getting some flickering from the Hids until I turn on the headlights. So this is forcing me to have my headlights turned on the whole time. Do you know of a way for me to disconnect the DRL??

projectors are impossible to find for 3rd gen 4runner.
only way is to retrofit fit some into your stock housing

Looks great man, I'm curious though as to why you had to take your grill and headlight out to install them? It took me about 20 mins to install mine and the only thing I had to remove was my cold air intake and my battery.

my install took about 30 min, but i wasnt able to really cover the headlight unit with the rubber, i left the rubber off it wasnt working no matter how i tried, so im just worried about water getting in there during rain 
but it looks nice

Projectors are easy to find at your local junkyard. I would NOT recommend using a
HID kit without genuine projector and not those EBAY knock offs.
Since our housing is so big, we would need a XEON projector like from a Merc (1997-2000). They have big headlights like our cars. Or even the Infinity Q45s will work.

HID KIT
Hello everyone...I have been reading your posts on HID's, I just bought a Plug n Play kit on Ebay for my 2000 SR5, I installed it and its working fine, except when I hit my keyless remote to lock or unlock the truck and the lights come on...one of them flickers and goes off....does anyone know why....??? Help Pls.

Couple things:
1. I would not suggest using HIDs w/ DRLs (daytime running lights). In your case, every time you unlock/lock your truck the lights come on correct? I've heard that turning HIDs on and off that quickly over and over, may damage them.
With that said, you could always disable your DRLs. The DRL module (small black box) in an '00 4Runner, is located in the engine bay. It's mounted to the driverside fender next to the battery. Unplug it and you will effectively disable your DRLs. Plug it back in if you decide you want your DRLs later. Just cover the connectors up when they are unplugged to keep debris from getting into them.
2. You said one of your bulbs flickers and then goes off, while the other bulb works properly correct? Two things:
Either you have a bad bulb or ballast paired together
-or-
You have a bad ground.
Try swapping the bulbs between the 2 ballasts. See if the bad bulb still flickers on the other ballast. If the flickering bulb still flickers on the other ballast, then it appears you have got a bad bulb. However, if the bad bulb starts working and the good bulb starts flickering, then you may have a bad ballast or better yet, a bad ground.
Unfortunately, this is a very common problem with Ebay HID "plug-n-play" Kits. I have had the same thing happen to me with a kit I recently purchased off Ebay (I was not installing them into headlights, but rather aux offroad lights). After I installed the entire kit, and test fired them, one bulb flickered and then went out, while the other bulb stayed on. I swapped the bulbs between the 2 ballasts, and the flickering stayed with the flickering bulb. It would continue to flicker and then go out no matter which ballast it was plugged into. I had an extra pair of HID bulbs laying around, so I installed one in the place of the flickering bulb and it fired up perfectly. That told me it was a defective bulb and the problem was not in my 2 ballasts or my wiring (thank goodness.)
Three days later, I fired both lights up and now the original bulb that had worked before, would not light up at all?? I swapped in my 2nd extra bulb in its place and it still did not light up. That told me it was either a bad ground or bad ballast and not a bad bulb. I checked all my grounds and they looked fine. Fortunately, I had an extra ballast, so I yanked out the bad one, wired in my backup ballast, and what do you know, the bulb now lit up perfectly
. That told me I had a bad ballast.
So now with one bad bulb and one bad ballast, I contacted the seller and was able to exchange my 2 defective parts for 2 new parts. Granted it took 3wks for me to get my replacement parts, but at least the seller exchanged them. I removed my backup bulb and ballast and reinstalled the new parts. Both lights fired up fine.
To date, I have had the newly replaced parts installed for 2wks and everything is working like it is supposed to. I've been using my aux lights a good bit doing some offroading at night.
Just remember with ebay "plug-n-play" kits, you get what you pay for.
