Toyota put V8 superchargers on hold

I know some of you are waiting for a supercharger from us, and I just got this bullitin from Toyota I wanted to share. I will try and touch base with you all:

Toyota Dealer General Managers

From: TRD

Subject: 4.7L V8 Superchargers On Hold
Date: February 18, 2004


All 4.7L V8 Superchargers are on hold, effective immediately.

TRD is investigating a potential issue with the engine controls. At this time, we anticipate all V8 supercharger part numbers will be on hold until March 15, 2004. However, this date may be further delayed depending on the results of our testing.

Please note that this situation does not affect any parts that have already been shipped to dealers.

In the meantime, we will not accept orders and all related part numbers will temporarily removed from the TDN/Dealer Daily.

does that mean I might have a problem with the s/c I installed?

any superchargers already sold, according to TRD, do not have any problems. If there was a problem TRD would re-call them in a heartbeat.
 
I was at Longo yesterday and they confirmed this to be true. The service manager didn't know the specifics.

all I know is that they should become available the first week in March. Hopefully it wont get pushed back longer.

I just convinced my fiancee on the whole s/c thing!! I was going to order it next week!!!

I just got off the phone with TRD, who informed me they are shipping them out on March 15th. So If anyone has one ordered I should receive it a few days after. Anyone else interested let me know so I can get yourr shipped with that batch! Thanks

I too am interested in getting a 4.7L V8 SC. Someone over at ToyotaNation recommended you as well! How much would it cost to ship one of those over to Toronto?

Can anyone recommend any local (GTA) installers? Any idea how much it will cost to install?

And j0mama... how did you get a Camry navigation system into your 4Runner? How much did it cost? It's too bad the canadian spec runners don't have this option yet. And which gps tracking system are you using?
 
I got my Camry nav off of a guy on ebay, I bought one from Oemvalue.com, but was lost in the mail.. I found another guy and purchased it for $1000.00.

GPS, im using my own... I use a unit designed and manufactured in the state.

well folks, I just got off the phone with TRD, and they have not shipped out the s/c's yet. They said product development is still working on it. I will keep you informed.
 
dare I ask what happened? Problem with fuel management? Etc. Any owners here have problems with their kit?

well, bad news is for anyone waiting for one of these units - dont plan on getting one any time soon now. what i have heard from several sources is that they dont plan on releasing them for some time.

they have also not stated any recalls on prior ones either, just a halt in production.

i will keep you informed with whats going on, however they said they dont keep your hopes up to get one anytime in the near future.
 
Any chance that some dealership, somewhere might have one of these units?
