I drove my Civic through a tree, now it's time for a new vehicle (pics included)

Earlier this month, I was driving home on a windy Sunday afternoon when a tree fell on my 2003 Honda Civic. I barely saw the tree through the top of my windshield when my wife screamed.

I slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. We braked through the tree. It appears to have hit the middle of our windshield and then scraped over the top of the car. The car still runs---it's a Honda---but USAA still (fortunately) totaled it.

So now I have the opportunity to buy the 4runner I've been thinking about for several months now.

I've included some pictures of the car & tree.

I plan on buying a 2007 V8 with third row seats. From everything I've read, it looks like we will have to put in an order to get what we want.

jharris2, yeah. We were all fine. My wife was a little sore, but that's about it. We all had our share of broken glass; miraclously, my five-month old daughter was protected in her car seat. And my teenage son and the dog were fine.

My wife and son were pretty shaken up by the event. I just shrugged it off because the accident is pretty minor compared to the bs our county has put us through this past year. We're still in the process of building our first house on undeveloped land which is a nightmare this close to Seattle.

Wow, you are very lucky!! I had the same thing happen once outside Spokane, WA where a damn deer literally jumped onto my hood and created nearly the same damage. His antlers were 6 inches from my face...Once again, you are VERY lucky! And yes, King county can be a bitch!
