Limited Owners: Few Good Tire Options

I've been reading the forums for the past few days about tires and I've come to the following conclusions and have some questions.

First, the tire selection for the 18" rims and proper size of 265/60R18, there are very few choices for a good tire. I've had Revos on my Jeep for the last 6 years and loved them, but they don't make them in OEM size for the Limited rims. They come in 265/70TR18 and 275/65TR18.

The GY Silent Armors are a good second choice, but I didn't think they made the correct size, but looking now, I see that they do come in 265/60TR18 size, so maybe that's an option.

Not sure if I should just drop down to the 17" rims and then I'll have more choices, or just go with the bigger size. If I go with the bigger size, will they rub or cause other problems. The larger revos are 3-5% bigger, so that will mean if I am doing 63, the speedo will read 60. Good for the resale value, I suppose. Or maybe just get a second set of 17" rims and have two sets of tires, but that may be more trouble than it's worth.

The Michellin Continentals are another choice but cost about 30% more, and the revos and SAs are both rated better on tirerack.

Bottom line is I'm not sure what the best option is. Winter is coming up soon and I really want to ditch these Bridgestones.

So other limited owners, what would you do, or what DID you do?

I'm in the same boat as you. I'd like better tires but there isn't much out there. The silent armors are in our size so I would think about that.
 
I am having the same issue. On my 2000 4Runner there a lot of choices, but I got a 2007 limited and have found no true winter tires. I like the silent armor tire, but would rather have a true winter tire. When I decide what to do I will post it.

I'm gonna go with the BFG's at LT265/65R18. Here's the difference:

Sidewall Height: 6.25 in 158.75 mm / Sidewall Height: 6.78 in 172.21 mm

Radius: 15.25 in 387.35 mm / Radius: 15.78 in 400.81 mm

Circumference: 95.84 in 2434.3 mm / Circumference: 99.14 in 2518.1 mm

Revs per Mile: 681.7 / Revs per Mile: 659.0

Actual Speed: 60 mph 100 km/h / Speedometer1: 58.0 mph 96.6 km/h

Speedometer Difference: - Speedometer Difference: 3.444% too slow
Diameter Difference: - Diameter Difference: 3.33%

Gonna put in a small lift anyways so the minor change in height shouldn't matter.
 
After puncturing two of the stock cross terrains on my limited while driving on dirt roads, I too was looking for alternatives. All I was able to find were the silent armors, the Yoko geolander A/T-S, and Michelin LTX A/T-2's for an A/T in that size. Of course, nobody in south eastern Utah has any of those in that size. Well, I did find three geolanders in Colorado. So I ended up patching one and replacing the other. Maybe there will be more choices when these wear out :)

Not exactly sure yet however was thinking about 2"/1" or 3"/2" or something in between. I'm short on cash right now due to my "large" purchases recently so I'll probably get this done sometime early next year.

I have the 18" T4R Ltd wheels on my GX with 265/65-18 tires but they are Bridgestone Duelers - not my first choice in tires but that's what was on the wheels when I bought them. So far they're pretty good IMO, relatively quiet and smooth. And the 65 series tire gives me about a half inch extra ground clearance compared to the stock 265/65-17's that come on the GX or the stock 265/60-18 tires that come on the Ltds. They're also pretty cheap.

There's a guy on ClubLexus running the 265/65-18 BFG AT tires on his GX with the Ltd wheels, that's what I'd like to replace mine with - however they are very expensive.

I would love to get the TRD (BBS) wheels for the tires too!!!:D
 
I am interested in running the BFG 265 65 R18s on my 07 Limited as well. I probably will not do a lift for a year or so, so i would like to find out if they work without rubbing on the stock suspension, etc.
