I'll have to drive Rupert up there this week and see if I can score that spot while I'm Christmas shopping.
 
Now just run out to home depot and slap a gate on that bad boy... make a couple dozen copies of the key for local T4R.org members and everybody can finally feel somewhat safe parking at a mall.:)
 
Or lightning or falling branches but no door dings and the possiblity of a branch falling is pretty slim.
 
Hey that's cool! It's kinda funny how they decided to stick a lone spot in there. However, me being me would never park under a tree because of birds, annoying tiny tree sap droplets, and the occasionally rare rotting falling branch. When I was back in school years ago, I was walking from SFSU back to my car on Juniperra Serra Blvd. That entire street is filled with huge trees and I saw some poor sap's Mustang with a HUGE branch that fell onto his windshield and hood. More like a huge log. Granted it was raining, the trees were old, but that's damn scary. Being killed by a tree is a sad way to go, that or dying in a folding chair accident. Sorry to go off tangent.

Edit: Oh, and I never back into a stall with my nose exposed in a parking lot either. If there was a chance that some yutz backed into my vehicle, I'd rather have my rear dinged than my front.

You guys are too funny. I also like to find the safest parking spot in any parking lot, and like others have mentioned, that spot seems to be a safe bet for avoiding door dings, etc... but maybe not from birds or fallen branches.

My friends think I'm sick, but when I have my choice of parking spots, I'll survey the parking lot and take a bunch of factors into consideration before picking my spot. For example, at the grocery store, the parking lot isn't level, so I'll always park at the crest of the hill to avoid runaway shopping carts. They never seem to roll uphill..... Or I'll look for an end space and put my wheels on the outside line to leave a lot of separation between me and the car next to me.

At work, I'll park between the on the right end, next to the fence. That way, I'll only have one side of my vehicle exposed to another car, and chances are that car will have pulled in the same direction as me, which means that their passenger side door next to my vehicle, which is even less opportunity for a door ding.

Yes, I'm truly sick. I'll admit it. But I also have an '04 4Runner without a single door ding or scratch in the paint!

hahaha I almost died in a folding chair accident! a couple of months ago, sitting on a dock LATE at night drinking adult beverages. it was hilarious, after I got rescued! sorry to take it back of topic :)

I have the same illness. I don't mind the walk, backed in with the passenger side as close as I can get it to the curb. Some yahoo with white paint, has already given me a door ding. Paint pen just arrived this week. And since I get to work early, I take the farthest next to a curb parking spot. I had a co-worker tell me I'm brave for taking that spot, since a well respected higher up supervisor has claimed that as his spot. I told her as soon as he starts getting to work as early as I do, he can have his spot back. I brought this up with him, and he laughed. He's going to graves now, so door dings for him won't be a worry. But as long as I'm on days, I'm going to take that prime spot, large stall close to the planter/curb, under the light and in perfect view of the security cameras!!! I'll get a picture next day I'm back to work and post it like Kenny has done.

lmao, Yeppers Kenny that's just what I do! (Regarding the last picture) But mine won't have the Golden Gate in the back ground!! Nice shot!!!! I love San Fran. When I post my pics, we'll see what kind of guesses you guys come up with. The razor wire should give you a nice hint. ;):
