i have a Scion radio for sale.. i'm going from the single disc to the 6 disc.. it's in new condition.. for those who are not familiar with this radio:

-AM/FM 160 watt Pioneer
-Single disc player
-MP3 player
-satelite ready
-3 listening modes (neutral, hear, feel)
-works with the steering wheel controls
-orange background with black numerals

i installed this in 20 minutes.. the 4th gen runners have a "snap together" dash held with 3-4 bolts..

$125 shipped anywhere in the 48 US..

Scion radio

Does it need a seperate tuner fort the XM? How's the power compared to aftermarket Pioneer?
 
The power is great, there is a night and day difference between stock. Unfortunely you do need a toyota propritary tuner for the XM module in the Scion Radio. Or you can wait until Blitzsafe release one. I ended up doing a FM Wired Mod to my Scion using a Delphi SkiFi, and it turned out perfect.

I'll go with Alpine before I spend $500 on that tuner plus an antenna and the $125 that BLKSS1755 wants for the HU.

BTW.....that head unit would now be third hand as BLKSS1755 bought it used 2 months ago. I saw the thread last night.

But if you don't want XM that seems like a real good deal.
 
actually, i bought it two weeks ago form a guy on the scion forum.. i want to get the 6 disc now.. still up for sale:) nothing wrong with it at all
 
I can vouch for the sound quality of the Scion radio. I swapped out the standard radio from my 4R and even my wife :eek: noticed the difference. This is a good price as I paid slightly less then this for mine.

Check out Scion for all the details on the radio. It is a direct plug and play as I had my local Toyota dealer do the install. I was too lazy & they only charged me $30.

Scion xB Pioneer installed

Easy to install, all my steering wheel controls work the same, background lights are the same color, and the sound....WOW! I came home with my ears ringing and couldn't hear the phone ring when my wife called. And I didn't care.

:bigok: i'm glad you like it.. hopefully i'll get my 6 disc next week.. the stock radio is:thumbdwn: compared with the Scion one..installation was a breeze, right? looks like the gas mileage went down :p i'll mail out the manual on monday..
 
How much does the Scion radio with 6 CD changer?

I was given a Scion a few weeks ago as a loaner car while my truck was being worked on. The first thing that I noticed was how good that radio sounded! Way better than the JBL unit in my truck.

Is it an exact fit, or are there any gaps? Partsrep's new unit looks like a nice clean install.
 
Scion Pioneer radio swap

1. Open the center console lid and pull up on the trim in the rear.
2. Unplug the connectors.
3. Do the same on the next trim piece by the cupholders.
4. With a 10 mm socket remove two bolts under the lower dash panel below the steering wheel.
5. Remove one bolt from the left side of the center trim, right behind the lower dash panel.
6. Remove one bolt from inside that flip out storage thing under the climate control.
7. Pull straght out on the computer display. Its just snapped in.
8. Remove two bolts from behind the computer display.
9. Pull out the center dash panel and disconnect electrical connectors. This will give you room to work.
10. Remove two bolts holding in the stereo receiver head unit.
11. Pull out the receiver and disconnect electrical connectors.
12. Swap the brackets over to the Scion unit. It's exactly the same.
13. Reverse installation procedure.

My stock stereo had two antenna different sized wires going in but the Scion only has a receptacle for one. I just taped off the one that didn't fit, plugged in the one that did and it works fine.

Once installed you would think it came from the factory that way. No gaps, perfect alignment, etc.

Now take a drive and rock on! :guitar2:

Next mod........speaker upgrade!
 
Real fast and easy to install. Installed mine middle January. Took me like 35-45 minutes because I had to install a Wired FM Modulator for my Delphi SkyFi XM Radio.

I was looking on crutchfield.com and it looks like you can get an adaptor to plug into the back of the Scion radio maybe and then plug in the Satellite Radio

?
