That is a great photo! It's always nice to see a clean 1st gen thats not beat to hell. But if I ever get one, its totally going to be beat to hell (at least when I'm done with it.)
 
Great pics. I could say they're brochure shots. Awesome first gen!!! The first gen started it all for me and since then I've always loved the 4Runner, every generation.
 
fixed the images in the first post not showing up. thanks for the comments guys. yea, the car is in decent shape if you were to look at it up close you would obviously find a couple of dents and scratches but overall it is a pretty clean one. a lot of it is from the way it was shot and the post processing the photographer did on them.

That is one sweet lookin 1st gen. :D I have always wanted one, a buddy of mine has a '88 in ok shape. I might buy it from him to make it into an off-road beast.

Lets see here..

I did not take the images, it was a good friend of mine who took care of that. He was using a Cannon 20d with a combination of 2 seperate lenses for near and far shots. Sorry, not familiar with the specifics of the lenses (i can find out if anyone is interested enough).


The hubs are indeed manual. Aisins to be exact. The vehicle originally came with auto locking hubs but 2nd owner, who i purchased from, decided to swap them out for manuals on a count of the auto's being destroyed on more than one occasion due to user error (various mechanics failing to treat them properly during wheel service.) I don't mind at all, and after reading some info about the differences between the two, the manuals seem like a more reliable option, no?

Cleghorn would be thel location. Late January if i remember correctly. (same photographer, if you browsed his pbase site, you would have already come across this set)

negative. this is off of little tujunga canyon which is somewhere between pacoima and sunland, into the mountain. the dirt road is near a shooting range... in fact you can hear gunfire the whole time. theres a whole mountain top dividing the road and the range but its still an exciting feeling knowing that theres the possibility of a stray bullet heading your way.

in fact... the first time i was on that road i accidentally walked past an old gate that had a rusted sign on it.. well i took about 20 steps and looked down. few seconds later i realized why the gate was there, i believe the gunfire was aimed towards where i was. later on i discovered the sign read "shooting area do not cross" or something along those lines... haha.
