**DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TOMORROW! ADJUST CLOCK ONE HOUR FORWARD!**

Hey guys,

I'm planning to go to the recovery gear clinic held over at the FJ forums on Sunday,March 9th.

10am at Camp Bluejay. I don't want to be the only 4Runner there :D

We can meet before hand and caravan together to the clinic. It's time to get the socal group together, we need to liven this place up!

Instructed by two affiliates of the Toyota Trail Team. One a former member and the other fresh out of training is a backup team member.


SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 9TH, WE WILL SHOOT FOR 10 AM TO ALLOW FOR EVERYONE TO GET THERE WITHOUT WAKING UP AT THE BUTTCRACK OF DAWN(whoever she is.lol) WE WILL MEET AT CAMP BLUEJAY BEING THAT IT IS MORE CENTRAL TO THE MAJORITY OF THE FOLKS HERE.
From the Lake Elsinore side take hwy 74 (ortega hwy) up until you get to main divide road on your right you will see Camp Bluejay sign. Turn right and follow the road to the campsite, abot 2 miles I think. I will try to put up SCFJ signs to follow. From the orange county/Capistrano side do the same as above but the blueJay turn off will be on your left.
Please bring Sandwiches and refreshments for yourself as it is quite isolated once you get back there. also feel free to bring small gas grills and grillables if you would like. I beleve they have a rule against charcoal last time I was there.
EVENT SHOULD LAST NO MORE THAN 3 HOURS AFTER THAT PLANS ARE OPEN FOR SUGGESTIONS. HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE.


This is not a licence or certification class, it is just to get folks up to speed on equipment usage techniques and safety. It will be informal but informative.

Just come out and learn. No need to buy recovery gear. I'm just bringing out the truck, all that's needed :D

We're gonna meet up at 9:00am to gather everyone before we caravan over to the Recovery Clinic.

When: 9:00am
Where: Starbucks in Tustin Market Place

2959 El Camino Real

How to get there:

5 Freeway
Exit Jamboree (turn left if from 5 South, turn right from 5 north
Left onto El Camino Real
First driveway turn right. Starbucks should be noticeable as you enter the driveway. We'll just meet in that parking lot.

Hopefully we can get a few more to join us.

Here's a link to Camp Bluejay, it's an estimated 25 mi drive on Ortega Hwy coming off the 5 freeway. So we should set enough time to cover the 25 mile drive on Ortega.

Few things to bring:
- Sack lunch
- Water or drinks
- any recovery gear you have. Tow straps, shackles, hi-lift etc..
- Gloves
- also a FRS radio, such as a Motorola talk-about etc..

I'll be picking up a set of tow straps and shackles also.

Check! (I KNEW when I bought this talkabout thing like 5 years ago and hauled it around from house to house for ages that it would come in handy eventually...)


Rich, when/where are you going to get tow straps? Maybe i'll tag along with you. I get paid on Friday, and if I see something I think I might need/want....;)

I'm also skipping Norco this Saturday to go on Sunday instead. Going to Norco the following Saturday. I need the practice. ;)

Not sure yet when I'm gonna get the tow strap. Stupid me left my card during sunday's shoot so I gotta activate my new card. I figure a quick stop to 4wheelparts can get a decent towstrap.

I saw Smittybilt towstraps for $24.99 or so for 2' x 30' and a pair of Warn D-Ring shackles would be a nice start. But, you're free to use mine on sunday too.

The swingers are sweet man. We got a few pepper poppers also, man I can't wait for BRI. We're what... 4 months due? :D

Where's 4wheelparts?

ETA: Duh, NM. Google is my friend. The Santa Ana one is just down Grand from work. Maybe i'll stop by after work Wed or Thurs and see what I can spend some money on.

More than 4 months man. Way longer. And don't rub it in. I had a great day Sunday, but still wish I had been at the range.

Just to clarify, March 9th is a Sunday!

Just enough time to party on friday, "recover" saturday, and get stuck on Sunday! :D
 
Hey everyone, I just wanted to remind you all that Daylight savings is tomorrow.

Adjust your clock 1 Hour ahead so you don't show up an hour late. :D
 
pretty sure I will be there tomorrow but there is an outside chance I wont make it...

When I put the lat and long into my GPS sitting here at home, it said estimated travel time was just over 1 hour. I'm not sure how accurate that is given that the directions were a different, more "complicated" route than we're planning on taking.
 
Tustin Market Place (Starbucks) is right off the 5 fwy.

We'll be on the 5 fwy for 17 miles until we exit at Ortega Hwy.

It'll be 21 miles approximately on Ortega Hwy until we turn into Camp Bluejay.

Btw, I want to encourage everyone to try and be on time. We'll be leaving the starbucks at 9:15 to head to Camp Bluejay. I have everyone's cell and everyone has mine. See ya guys in the morning!
