Urban Runner Radio Trim Ring

I was looking at some pictures for the new '08 Urban Runner, and has anyone noticed that since the radio is essentially the Eclipse/Tom-Tom DD radio that it has a trim ring around it? This might be the answer for a lot of us that have been looking for a smooth factory looking piece for when we replace our radios in the sport models (I believe that was the issue) with extra wide dash openings. When I possibly get time (or someone can beat me to this, it may be awhile), I'm going to go to the dealer and see what they can come up with PN wise and $.

Went to the dealer today to inquire about this and the guy behind the parts counter couldn't find any info on it. He said that ironically that they were expecting a huge system update with Toyota's database overnight or sometime today that might actually show some new info on this. So if anyone's at the dealer (I won't be for a little while) and has the time, ask about it and see what you come up with.
 
that urban 4runner dash kit , looks like its the jbl equiped ones, on my 07 sport, its non jbl, so wat i did was buy the metra kit, that is just 2 plastic piece that screws on the side of the radio, and then it covers the side of the expose area, i use 2 din size, i have the pioneer 8600 at the bottom and the pionner avx-p8dvd on top of the deck, so its like a double din unit.
 
The Urban Runner's radio is the Eclipse navigation unit with the removable Tom Tom GPS.

If anyone finds this part number be sure to post it, I should be getting the Eclipse/Tom Tom unit for my B-Day and would want that factory look.
 
Metra makes a double din dash kit for the 4th gen dash (jbl and non-jbl)

Also, that double din nav/ screen isnt that great in my opinion. See if you can go to a store that carries eclipse and use one. I find them to be ugly, clunky to navigate, and the displays (especially the one on the top left) are horrible in sunlight.

Great idea with the removable gps unit. Needs a re-vamp on the styling. If there was a Garmin GPS in that thing, and the unit itself looked / worked better it would be an AWESOME unit!
 
I understand that Metra and other companies make double din dash kits for the 4th generation 4Runner. But in my opinion the material they use just doesn't match the finish of the 4Runner's interior. Also I don't like how those kits give your radio that recessed and isolated look. And since Toyota has put this unit in one of their own I figured why not try and get the same stock look.

I've been on the hunt for this part for one main reason: I'm going to upgrade my radio to a DD unit. I'm not a fan of the Eclipse unit, although innovative, it did result in Toyota making their own DD trim ring. The Metra kits and the like work, but just don't suit me. They leave much to be desired as far as their fit and finish go. The factory trim looks, well...factory! I've been to the dealership and so far haven't been able to get any concrete info yet. They said the part number looks to be legit, and the sequencing of it suggests that it should be related to their accessories catalog. Hope this info helps.
 
Hey man, any updates?
I have installed the Pioneer AVIC D3 and have those horrible gaps along the sides too. Will that above part number: PZ365-35702 work to fix this issue? Do you have any pics of your install?

As stated before, that part number appears to be legit. Try going to the dealership see what you come up with.
 
i just picked up the urban runner and i must say i love it.( last car 06 solara.) i got it in black and that thing is ALL black . looks sweet. gps is fine visually but a little touchy (fat fingers)
 
Making some progress, need some help.

I have been in contact with Toyota and Penske Toyota about the trim bezel. The guy from Penske said the only thing that he can find is the entire center trim. He thinks that you get the trim bezel for the radio if you buy the whole center unit but he is unsure. He asked if I could get a VIN # from an Urban Runner, then he could tell me more specifics.

So, what I need to know is, is there any Urban Runner owner that would email me their VIN # or email it to the guy at Penske Toyota?

Oops I see its Metra...I thought that their's was the one that makes the gaps on the side.

I also see that yours is for the limited, will that work in a SR5?
 
Nope, mine is an 2003 sr5 sport with jbl synthesis 6disc. The initial dash kit they recommended was crutchfield part no: 120958202. It was just 2 pieces of plastic that attached to the factory bracket. However, it leaves the major gap between the radio and bezel.
I havent tried that new dash mount bezel yet because I will have to take the whole car apart again because of a defective avic-d3. I will install it next week though and let you know and definately post pictures.
