Scion HU and Grom Audio I-pod installed

I 've been lurking here for a long time and have learned alot from everyone. Thanks for all the entertaining and informative posts.

I just finished upgrading my stereo on a budget in my 2001 4Runner. Picked up the Scion HU from ebay for $20+15 shipping. Awesome deal. Wouldn' t have known about it if it wasn't for this site.

I also replaced the stock speakers with some Alpine Type-S series in front and back and a Bazooka powered sub. The tweeters were replaced with Pioneers. I also added a Grom Audio I-pod connection through the cd-changer port, Everything works and sounds great.

Part numbers

You have the same Scion Radio as I do. Do you have part numbers for the IPod hookup? Looks good btw!

The whole install was pretty much plug and play. The Grom Audio unit I bought is the same as this one.

That is definitely pretty cool, I just don't like how you have to hack the dash apart to get it to fit. So the 4Runner harness just plugs into the back of the Scion headunit and works?
 
It definitely looks better than in the picture. You have to look pretty close to tell that it is not factory. All I had to do was unplug the 2 connections that are plugged into the factory amp installed behind the factory stereo and plug those into the scion HU.

with your ipod adapter did you notice/experience a loss in volume?

i bought a metra ipod to factory toyota cd changer for approx. $50.

it charges the ipod but lacks the control that yours has.

unfortunately, i also experience quite a drop in volume and have to crank the volume.

oh, i put my wife's 2000 toyota radio/tape/cd combo into my 88 4runner!

again... plug and play.

The volume loss isn't very noticeable with I-pod. There is some, but I just crank it a bit to about 35 on the Scion HU and it's good and loud.
