FJCruiser front springs installed!

I finally installed my FJC front springs in my T4R. My initial impressions are :bigok: :D :banana: It leveled the T4R somewhat, it now rides better (if that’s possible). It feels better during cornering & braking and overall I love it!

To remind everyone: My goal was to get rid of the nose down look without doing an overall lift. I was seeking a minor front-end leveling. I found the springs on Ebay, $55 to the door, that included the rear springs which I have chosen not to use.

Measuring from the top of the tire to the wheel opening increased by 3/4” plus or minus. Doesn’t sound like much but it’s exactly the look and ride I was seeking.

Mission accomplished (cheaply)!

I need some picks too!!! Did you have to have an alignment??? How easy was the install, Did you do it your elf with just a set of springs compressors???? Was the seller on Ebay a vendor or an individual user that lifted his FJ???

Pics are coming... :awais: Yes to the alignment although it didn't really need it. I have friends in the business and they did the alignment. Prior to adjusting the camber it was still within acceptable, specified range. I forget the numbers. Yes on the DIY install. Easy but I did end up splitting the upper ball joint boot when I put the fork in. Yes it was a regular EBAY vendor based out of Ft Collins CO.

Hmmm...that seems like a nice mod...i would probably prefer this over the 1" spacer lift. Good job.
 
Not the best but you'll get the idea... 2 without the FJC springs followed by 2 with.

Even with the bike blocking the T4R you can really get a sense of the 'nosedown' OEM setup.

With FJC springs... Between then and now I got my AirLift 1000 installed too. As many of you know you must run at least 5psi at all times in the AirLift. Even though it's only 5psi I swear the backend looks a touch higher...

In all fairness: The driveway has a slight upslope and as the T4R comes to rest on the p-brake the nose comes up a whisker.

If I put a Westen bull bar on my '07 Sport, how much will it pull the front down?? And yes, I would like to bring the front up with these springs or something else. NIce look.
 
Im jealous of you that want a lift "for looks". I need a lift because I keep on scraping ground and snow in my driveway. FJ springs looks like the best solution to me, but I know they are stiffer. How much harsher is the ride?

I doubt it'll be noticable. The Strona/T&H low bullbar probably weighs like 5-10lbs max. IMO, unless you're mounting up a ARB/Shrockworks type steel bumper and maybe with a winch, I doubt the front end will sag much if at all.

The ride is actually improved in spite of the conventional wisdom that would say it would get harsher. I feel slight pavement imperfections a tiny bit more below about 20mph (or less). Larger imperfections it handles better than with the stock springs. Once up to normal driving speeds the ride is better in all conditions, the T4R has less bodyroll and so far there is no 'dowside' to the FJC springs. The only possible downside is it may not be enough of a lift for some. Those who are pondering a Cornfed 2/1 or similar should stay on that course. Anyone pondering a 1" 'front-end only' spacer kit should consider the FJC springs, IMHO.

Looks great. I am also interested in lifting my front an inch or 2. I spoke to my local toyota dealer about doing the same thing and he actually said the fj front springs would actually lower the front since they are not as big? I am not sure what he is talking about since I assumed the suspension that is stock for the 4runner and fj are similar? ....anyone?

I had the springs side-by side. I don't know what your dealer is talking about. The FJ and the T4R have many shared components, springs are not one of them. The FJC springs I used had a larger diameter barstock and were longer. They indeed lifted my front end. From all the reading and looking at other peoples pics etc the FJC springs did the same or a hair less than a 1" spacer lift and I ended up with a slightly higher spring rate. For my needs/wants it's perfect. For many it wouldn't be enough.

Thanks for the compliment:biggrin2:! Bryan is the best dog I've ever had. Dad was a big black Lab and Mom was a Boxer. He doesn't do real well in weather extremes and other than that the easiest, best dog ever!

I'm on my 5th Lab. A chocolate, Chloe she is a great dog. Great with people, great with kids. All around best companion I could have. My clients even let me bring her to work with me on occasion. She is a total HAM. Thinks she owns the place. Actually she probably does. :p
