my friend went to visit some relatives in Hawaii and she told me that there were 4runners everywhere! Sounds like heaven to me lol
 
wait, is the first silver one running on a set of TRD wheels??????????

damn....... i am wondering if they have more nice stuff hiding under their hood.

And 2wd. Those look more like private vehciles with a set of lights up top so I wouldn't say they are cop cars,maybe security.

You want to see alot of 4Runners of all gens then come to Colorado.
 
Most cops in HI use their personal vehicles for cop cars. Just slap a light bar on your ride and it's a 'cruiser'.

You're half right; they are private vehicles owned by the police officers. The Honolulu Police Department uses a mix of city-owned blue-and-whites and officers' subsidized personal vehicles.

There are qualifications for the vehicles, so you won't see 12 year old Dodge Neons with blue lights. Back in the 80s, the typical HPD subsidized vehicle was a Monte Carlo SS or a Buick Grand National. Today, I think SUVs make up a majority of them, of which the 4Runner is probably the most popular choice.

On the sedan side, I'm noticing more Infiniti G35s. I've rarely seen Camrys used (I did see an Avalon once).

I agree. After moving to the Denver area from Seattle I've noticed a ton more 4Runners than I ever noticed in Washington...

Yes, the big island is crawling with T4Rs- I was there in April and at one point I passed by THREE different black sport editiions in the span of about 2 minutes up near Hilo. I said to myself the same thing that afx said above "this must be 4Runner heaven" :D There are also tons of jeeps everywhere - but many of them are just rentals like the one we had:

I had never seen a police 4runner before. I guess there isn't that much room to run from the cops in Hawaii. :p

I like those wheels.

I had the opportunity to go and just pay for my plane ticket....My best friend and her husband were stanioned in Hawaii for the past 6 years...She kept inviting me every year.....and I always wanted to go. But I had other interests on the other side of the globe (UK)..so for those 6 years I always spend my vacations overseas down in London...and never had enough time to go to Hawaii...Now I regret it...My friend got relocated to Texas last december....

Hawaii is a dream vacation for anyone
