LED's to illuminate the driver/passenger foot wells

Im looking to put some sort of LED lights to light up both foot wells and I was looking here for some ideas/suggestions. Anyone have this done to their T4R? What color would you recommend and what brand/switches/etc? Not sure if this makes sense, just lookin for some ideas!

I put in regular courtesy lights since I couldn't find any LEDs at the time that I liked.

No need for a switch, though -- just tap into the same circuit as the running boards. Near the ignition switch is connector I17 -- connect one wire to the red/green wire (pin 6), the other to the black wire (pin 2). If you don't have lighted running boards, then watch the ring around the ignition switch -- it's the same circuit.

Yeah those seem good- I think I am going to do red to match the XM Radio screen color and the hazard lights red button. Gives some contrast, or else just orange. How do you plan on wiring them?
 
I just used two blue led leds from any auto parts store for like 9 bucks each. They had self adhesive on back and stuck them under seat. At night it reallly lights things up. I also have leds in my plexiglass sub box. So i ran them both to a rocker switch to turn them on when i want to.

I never got past the planning stage for this mod for my 1999 4R, but here is the schematic I worked on on how I was going to wire it up.

I am trying now to get around to doing this on my 2007 4R. So many mods, so little time...:bash:

I like this idea... I think I might do this to my ride when i get some time.

I'd like to have the lights on the same circuit at the dome light so they are instantly on with the door being opened. I was also thinking about having a switch so I can turn them on/off separately...is this going to be difficult for a novice?

I like the idea and for the price it would be a sick ass mod but im worried about doing all the wiring my self but it seems to be pretty simple....i always think things are going to be 10x harder then they really are.
 
LED's in Footwell

I did the footwell lights in the front of my 92 t4r and it looks prety good. I need to get some good pics of it though.

I used a total of 4 3in. LED Strips made by www.StreetGlow.com I bought them at Joe's Sports and Outdoors but they are going out of business now:( I work there lol. :( :(

I put 2 on each side under the dash so you can't actually see the strips but it illuminates the entire footwells.

I also have neon tubes with strobes around my sub box that light up and beat to the music. Its cool at night.

As far as wiring I ran a wire from the battery to a non-illuminated switch. (because non lighted switches just act as a cut off for the power supply. where as lighted switches have to be ground and thus run thru a fuse so that they really turn off and not kill the battery.)

Then I ground each 3" strip to the closest peice of metal and wired all the + wires to the wire on the other end of the switch.
 
I have four LED tubes... blue, that match my pioneer head unit and look great.

4 nine inch tubes - 27 bucks. i wired them to the back of the cigarette lighter by my shifter... incredibly easy.

A buddy of mine actually makes and sells all sorts of LEDs that would be perfect for this application. They are already set up for 12V. What ever length of flex strip you want.. Installation would be pretty easy. Just decide how you want it to tie into your fuse box or mount a switch.

Thanks for the posts guys. I actually did this a while ago. I put a 9inch strip of orange LED's from Onzium (sp?) on the driver and passenger footwells. I wired then with an add-a-fuse and installed a switch to one of the blanks to the left of the steering wheel that also illuminates orange when turned on. The setup looks sick and complements the factory interior color scheme at night. It is an added bonus to have an on/off switch as well.

Will post pics eventually.

Any Pics??? I've thought of doing the same thing with the illuminated switch and will probably do that when I get some time over the winter
