i want a spacer lift too but im not sure which one. i will be buying the cornfed from burtman industries. should i do the 2/1 or 3/2 and why

i know there are hundreds of threads on lift/tires. believe me ive spend the past two days reading them and debating this over and over and over again

will those tires not fill up the wheel well on 3/2? is the 3/2 lift harsh on the suspension? or is the 2/1 not enough?

arg im going crazy someone help me make a decision

yeah i was using that thread as my main comparison but i do have an 04 which has the squared wheel well... so its hard to erally tell exactly how my truck will look

i really want the 3/2 setup but my truck is a daily driver and i dont do much off roading except flat trail riding. BUT i like the look of lifted 4runners... so does it put much more strain than the 2/1 setup? i dont think so, so im about to just order the spacers but then i start to think, what if those tires really dont fill the wheel well that well? so then i decide to go with the 2/1 but then start to think 2 inches isnt much at all.. and i go back and forth and back and forth

im exhausted of reading and thinking about this lift lol

I vote for 2/1 based on your needs.The tires should clear fine as 275/70/17 will fit with no lift.

IMHO It'll look tougher with the wells 'full' of aggresive looking meat. The 3/2 will look good but it may look like it needs a touch more tire.

Most claim the 2/1 rides fine and the 3/2 tightens the ride especially in the back.

To me I prefer the look of a slightly lower lift with the 'right' tires rather than a 'lifted to the max' look. If the vehicle is lifted a lot then my eye wants to see big solid axles and all kinds of dedicated, big $$$ stuff.

It's all about balance... IMHO

i think thats what i needed to hear.. and what im thinking myseslf... plus im gonna get the wheel spacers to give it a wider stance as well...

ive seen many pics on here, but im not very familiar with lifted yotas in person... if i do the 2/1 lift will it be a very noticable look? i dont want someone (or myself) to look at the truck and say "thats lifted?" ya know.. i want it to stand out from the norm....

That's going to be sweet, great choices! :bigok: With a 2/1 and those tires it will definately stand out from the stock ones. Only the most clueless might not realize it's lifted.

The Spidertrax will jack up the 'cool/tough factor' one more notch too. It's going to look and drive great!

is that even a debate 2/1 vs. 3/2?

I would always opt for the bigger, if not why even touch it, you might as well leave it stock height.

I know you mentioned that you dont 4x4, in that case just leave stock and get some nice "nobby" tires.

IMHO, you should lift it to the sky, then you wont even have to wonder if it stands out because everyone will be looking at you.

I know how you feel. I have been tossing this dilemma every since I joince this site. It truly is a tough decision....great luck with it. Keep us posted.
 
search for "josh220" and suspension. He went through a 2/1 lift, then a 3/2, then coilovers. Would have saved a lot of money to do it right in the first place. I've read lots of complaints about 3/2's riding rough because the spring is so compressed. It limits your travel too. If you don't go for coilovers (adjustable from 0-3" lift), then go for the 2/1.

I recommend 265/70R17 tires and spacers too.

That is a nice tire though...Is this the tire that comes on the Rubicon stock?
 
yes they are and theyre very cheap. i never said i dont 4x4, i just dont do any crazy mohabi desert stuff. im in jersey so its all flat trails and some sugar sand. i LOVE the look of lifted trucks, but im limited in cash right now and cant stand the stoclk look, so im buying those tires for 90$ a piece. i want the 3/2 but i didnt want my wheel wells to look empty. if anyone here can tell me that those tires with a 3/2 will look fine than thats what i would do. everyone seems to be partial..


the 2/1 is basically a one inch lift because that extra inch in the front should have been ther from stock. so a one inch lift is stupid

but then people say the 3/2 is rough and its hard on the suspension. ?

i really want to go bigger, but comments here and there are holding me back ...

I am not changing my earlier vote for the 2/1:D


You seem 'hot' for a 3/2. Have you considered all missions for your T4R? Will a 3/2 cause garage/parking garage issues or not? A 2/1 and a cool roof basket should still make it I would think. Maybe that's not a factor for you...

nice thread with good pics to go off of....

i really want a 3/2 but i dont thnk those tires will look right on it (255/75).... i think they are too skinny and may be slightly to small. it seems that the 3/2 only looks full with 285's

so even tho bigger is better in my eyes, i may just have to settle for the 2/1... i like the tires i ordered and they were cheap. i hope i dont regret it but i think 2/1 looks better with those tires

im still gonna sleep on this for about another week just to be sure, cause right now i change my mind every other day
 
so as i said i change my mind too freakin much. i found these pics of the 3/2 (revtech, but same idea) lift and it actaully looks pretty decent. the tires on the first one are 285s and my tires will only be about half inch smaller... not sure about the tire size of the second pic, but they look smaller than 285's.... either way im now thinking 3/2 HAHA. this is the reason i need to wait a week

cj you are my hero.. there couldnt be a better thread for me to see, as this is the same color with the same body style as mine, and all the addons are what i want..... its official... im going 2/1... it may not be the biggest, but it def looks awesome and MUCH beefier( and cheaper)...


if only i had an extra 400 laying around to get that grill. that thing is NIIIICE looking!
