do 265/70/17 fit stock 4R?

Many run 265/70/17's on stock or 1" front lifted T4R's with no rubbing. The BFG K/O's have a very square shape and will lightly rub the UCA (upper control arm) at full turn. Where it hits isn't sharp and it's reported as no big deal. BFG recently released a 265/65/17 that doesn't rub if the BFG is your choice in tires.
If you search the username spaceman you'll see 275/70/17 Goodyear SA's on a stock T4R with no modification. That's about the biggest you can go stock.
As you read more you'll read of 'trimming' or fender liner relocation with larger than 275 or with wheel spacers.

I had that exact tire on my 3rd gen for a while and it didnt rub at all. Im sure it will be fine.

thanks guys for the info. I have been tossing this lift/tire option around for a while now.
Currently, I think I will just buy new tires for now with no lift. I just cant seem to dump a perfectly working XREAS system. What I have been hearing about spacer lifts isnt the greatest and I rather do a coilover option for added height and performance.
Hopefully, when these new tires need changing, at that point I will take out XREAS and put OME lift or whatever's the best at that point in time.
Who knows, a company might make a 5-6" lift for 4th gen 4R by then.
Anyone got tire suggestions?? I dont like the BFG's A/T (no offense) because everyone has that tire already. I am leaning to something a little different:
Mickey Thompsons, ProComp, Toyo, Nitto, Cooper-any experience or thoughts you have with these tires??

Toyos mts are way nice but I don't know if they make that size. But they are 1200 a set.... Ouch. And I think the pro comps come in american sizes for the most part. But good luck finding a good tire

I got my Nitto Terra Grapplers for $500 mounted and balanced.
I think it is hard to beat the deals you can find on Nittos and they are great tires. They perform very well both on and off road, and really excel in the wet. Also, they are pretty quiet for A/T tires.
I am thinking of replacing my Nittos with 255/75/17 BFG Mud Terrains but I do not know if these would fit on a stock t4r. These will be a little better off road and are the stock tires for many rubicons so between their mass production and guys taking them off their jeeps, they are readily available for cheap- a few weeks ago they were $57 a tire from tirerack.com :bugeye: , but I was an idiot and waited too long to buy them :bash:

I'm running Firestone Destination M\T's, 265\70\17 on my stock 05 4runner. No problems for me, good luck
I would add that wheel spacers, a small lift and larger tires make for a heck of a difficult time changing a tire on a trail or anywhere else for that matter. I have also heard that on the full time 4wd the tires have to be the same size so you have to replace the spare as well. In the coming months I will likely move to a 265/70 because I want to fill out the wheel well and I like the look. On my Tundra I went too large with a 285 and the rubbing, ride quality and tire changing was bad. Probably not as bad on the t4r but it
