X'mas day little off road run and foggy night with Hoen endurance yellow

On x'mas morning, me and my friend went to the off road park for a little run. i guess we went on at a wrong timing. right before we headed to the park, there's very heavy rain occurred. EVERYWHERE in the park was flooded by muddy water, and the trials we went last time,, we simply could not get through at all. the trucks were basically sliding left and right the whole time....
it was a very good new experience for us to learn how to control in bad condition but it wasn't too fun....

and here are a few pic i just snapped an hour ago, it was foggy tonight and since i haven't took any good pics after the Hoen endurance yellow fog were installed, so here they are:

Can you give me some tips on how to take awesome pics like that? I've got a very good camera, I'm sure it's capable.. :bigok:
 
What kind of camera is that, and what type of settings on it. I love that kind of pic. I need it.
 
Wow man awesome pics!!! I am getting the XD lights and wondered what the yellow fogs would look like with them. Also where did you get that LED light that is on by your tag in the last pic?? I really like that!!! Great job and looks like you had fun out there in the mud!

i h ave nothing special but just a regular nikon D40X DSLR with a regular 18-55 lens.

the off road ones, i used HDR effect on them. so they might look a little bit different.



the night pictures i took them with tripod, and used both pre-program setting and manual setting to adjust different shutter speed to pick the best pics.

for night shots, just make sure you have a tripod handy and pretty much each photo you need couple different shots from different settings, so you can pick the best one. i usually use manual setting for out door night shot, and try to keep the aperture at f/3.5 (which my lens only allowed the smallest).

nothing special, just a nikon D40X with 18-55mm kit lens.
 
The HDR effect does look nice.

To get a real HDR though, you'd need to take at minimum 3 different exposures with different F/stops (-2, 0, +2), also called bracketting.

When you combine the 3 pictures into 1 using photoshop, it will take the darkest dark and the whitest white and average them out to make a High Dynamic Range image.

Yeah I was gonna ask, is the HDR effect only capable when editing photographs in Photoshop?
