softer suspension aka Franco's minivan quest

softer suspension

i got the 05 v8 sr5, and now with a newborn my wife sits in the back anyway she realized its bumpy. she first kindly asked, now she demands i either soften the suspension or buy a sienna.
guys a sienna is not an option unless i compensate with a vette
so what can i do

Those bumps will not hurt the kid. My son rode around in the back of my old 88 Mustang GT that was way stiffer than my 4runner and he turned out ok.
 
i know but she complains, she wants a sienna but i dont want one so if i made for a more comfort ride maybe shell shut up
 
All I know that can really soften up the ride, but keep it controlled, is Toytec's coilover full suspension upgrade. It's really smooth, but you're look at ~$1200 to just soften up the ride, and you'll end up lifting it which could be a good or bad thing.

Its almost universal that coilovers will not make things smoother, unless you are off road at about 60+.

Coilovers use stiffer coils and some can punish you pretty hard on things like speed bumps and potholes when you are not going fast.

but anyway i got 265/60/18 yoko geo g053 and the pressure
is lowered, the traction is so much better but its still bumpy but only in the back, the front is smooth and the rear shocks are good

Of course, it is all relative (how smooth the vehicle is) but I believe 265/60/18 is a source of your problem. I still have original tires (265/65/17 (P)) with 34 PSI and ride is very smooth to me.
Another solution to borrow somebody 3 rd generation 4Runner with LT tires and let your wife ride in it for a week. Then when she will go back, she will think that you have a
 
How many miles do you have?

I agree with the guys who are focused on the tires. If you're going for ride getting into a 65 or 70 series would help a lot. Something like this tire would be much cheaper than switching to a Sienna and your manhood would be safe(r):lmao:

Actually I believe the statement goes like this:
Why are divorces so expensive? Because they're worth it!


Can't help much on the ride except to say change to a smaller rim diameter and put Michelins on.

franco, your wife is a smart woman! We love our Sienna...i drive to work everyday with it...the smoothest car i have ever owned and it is very practical! Nothing compares with it.

As for your problem, i got nothing for you except for the above suggestions. If your wife thinks that your 4runner is rough, then take her to your local Mercedes dealership and let her drive a G-wagen! :D She will then think that your 4runner is a Sienna!

I would NOT change tires because your current tire (Geolander HT-S) is a good highway tire already. Play around with tire pressure if possible, but do not go too low. I think that you are stuck with the ride.

And lastly, get a Sienna...i see girls keep on eyeing me everyday down the highway. Trust me...it is a chick magnet! :p

I have done a road trip in a Sienna and it's hard to fault; I have to agree.

ain't no female gonna look at me when im driving a sienna, if i do get one I gotta get a vette or porche to compansate (its the right thing to do)

It is all about how you trick your mind into thinking something...it is healthy way to deal with things.... :D
 
Tell your wife it's the T4R's exclusive "auto-burping" function. Works with husbands in the front also. No help with the chore in the little one's "lower unit' though.;):
 
Weird, I usually get compliments from friends on how smooth the 4runner rides...

I have been in a sienna and it's quite smooth but in comparison the 4runner is not rough by any stretch of the imagination...

I agree...the 4runner's ride is one of the best in its class.
