Fresh oil all over 4Runner...how to remove it?

This is not a good day for me. City is rebuilding a road that I drive every day to work. Today they put fresh oil and when I saw it was too late and had to drive thru it. Now all doors and back of 4R are covered with small black dots.:awais: I took some pictures but it is hard to see since they are small. Can you give me any advice how to get rid of that?
I know that gasoline is good for it but I'm not sure if I want to use it. Friend told me that I can try with butter (this one is new for me ) If anyone know something that works good please let me know...

that is a lot.. that sux, and hopefully you could remove it all..

but you could try bug and tar remover or clay bar..

I say you wash the car with dishwashing liquid and then do a full detailing job.

krosno.....that's tar from the asphalt they're laying down. i've had to deal with that a countless number of times on my WHITE corolla. i agree with alpha and sharp.....do a full detail, and use a tar remover in this order:

wash
tar remover (where there are black spots)
clay
polish
wax

don't worry yourself too much about it!

I agree, use a tar remover and follow up with clay. Unfortunately, most tar removers will also remove whatever wax/sealant that is on your car, so you'll want to follow up by waxing your truck.

It will come off with claying. Just wash your car with car wash soap...not dishwashing soap. Dishwashing soap only dries out the paint. Then clay with a good clay like Meguiars. It will take some time, but it will all come off. Then wax again because you will remove all the wax during the clay process.

I was shocked at first because it looks terrible but now I guess I'll have to spend this Saturday detailing 4Runner. Well, it gives me pleasure to do it anyway so it doesn't look that bad anymore ...

Fullerton and Grand on NW side of Chicago. My friend last week hit a sewer with his transmission because they were sticking out after they removed asphalt pavement. The cover broke off the transmission and now he has to spend big $$$ to fix it. But city will give him some money back for that because he filed some claim in city hall. Maybe they would pay for my time that I have to spend to remove those dots

Finally I was able to remove all those dots. It took me 3 days. :bonk: but now paint looks like brand new!!!
For all those with the same problem here is some info how to do it. I don't say it is the best way but it does the job.
All products i usedare made by Meguiars.First I washed car with Deep Crystal Car Wash. I didn't use dishwashing soap because of clay that came right after car wash. As somebody said clay removes all wax that is why I had to put new wax at the end. As for clay I used Quik Clay Detailing System. It is good product but only for small jobs. Imagin cleannig your car inch after inch with a piece of clay.Maybe some of you do this but it was new to me. It wasn't easy and it took me 2 days to do whole car. I didn't clean only roof because there were only two spots to clean. However biggest problem was with rear bumper right behind wheels. I was too tired to do this with clay so i took a rug and put it into gasoline. It removed all of it so easly that I was kind of mad for my self for using clay.However after cleaning paint with clay it was so smooth and it looked great! It was worth it. Now I have to see how long it will last like that and I will repat whole thing again after winter. After clay I used Deep Crystal System Polish and after that Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax. Now paint it so beautiful and so smooth that every time I get into my car I have to touch it . All tar on weels and runnigboards I cleaned with gasoline. i was afraid that it could damage something but it didn't and it is very fast with removing tar.
What lesson did I learn? Next time when I see sign FRESH OIL I will drive around it on the sidewalk

This may sound very very odd, but if you or your wife/gf have any of Avon's Skin So Soft, that stuff takes tar off amazingly. I heard this a long time ago and i'm not sure if it will have any effects long term on the paint but it worked on all surfaces and i haven't seen any visual effects to the areas i used it on. Hope this helps.
